The Grand Library

The Grand Library was the pride of Nekharat. In it all knowledge that anyone in Adatia has ever known is held. Many even suspect that the servitors that still ran through the halls of the library still continued their endless work, writing down knowledge never meant for man.

Purpose / Function

The Grand Library was the most important structure in the city, and as such, held quarters and offices for the high council at the very top, where the entrance also was. It was exceedingly rare that anyone, even a council member, was permitted to enter the lower levels. There countless Servitors constantly gathered, catalogued and preserved any kind of knowledge they could. This included anything from how to tie a knot to the most vile and heinous blood rituals.

Alterations

During the destruction of Nekharat only the wards and Onyxia's disinterest in the library where the only things that protected it. Soon, expeditions came and tried to gain entrance to the library, and eventually some did, though few ever returned, and those that did where never the same. Soon after the Undead Scourge Paramunth returned and took her place at the top of the library. There, in the mountain walls, she dug herself a new lair.

Architecture

The grand library was cut out of the back wall of the The city of Nekharat. From the main floor of the city the library rises as a step pyramid into the mountain. A single set of stairs gives access to the top of the pyramid where, at the left and right side, magical circles are cut into the floor. Using the proper spells, now only known by Paramunth, these circles will lower themselves to the next floor, where the old high council would live. From this first floor similar circles are embedded into the floor. Each of these circles require one of each Xerak Crystals to activate and will create a portal that leads to a lower level of the pyramid.

Servitors

Inside the pyramid countless small machines called servitors roam. They can travel through small openings in the walls to quickly move from floor to floor and maintain the pyramid and the knowledge contained within. Additionally each floor besides the first has numerous larger servitors. The smaller servitors will ignore intruders, but the larger ones will attack anyone without the proper authorization, which was lost during the destruction of Nekharat, on site.
