Teleportation Circles

We can’t keep doing this. Every time hundreds of them die. Avelana, It’s time for a change of perspective…

History

When Adatia was cut off from the multiverse, all forms of teleportation became impossible. This was not an issue for most people, but for the Avatars this could be a difficult problem. Especially Avelana Roseheart and Akkarin Ladon , who often would respond to crises around the world, only to arrive to burned down villages.   In the late years of the second century Akkarin Ladon had had enough. He travelled to the conclave and, with the help of the high mages, they devised a system for teleportation.

Construction

A complex set of ancient runes is embedded into a large slab of stone. These runes are so small that it can take even the most skilled mason decades to engrave them. Finally mages enchant the slab, filling the runes with power connecting them with the framework of the world itself. Many believe that they know how the runes work, but in reality, no one has ever been able to decipher how they work. The only thing they can agree on that there is at the very least a spatial, as well as a temporal component, but not one of the components actually contain any components that would allow the subject to move.

Use

To activate the circle six XERAX must be used. A mage holding each will channel their power into a specific rune through the crystals. Once activated the transported individuals disappear from existence for exactly 36 seconds. No one knows where they disappear to, nor where they go. They simply appear at the target circle, with no memory of the lost 36 seconds.

The individuals find themselves standing where they were before, but everyone is gone. Searching they can find a single person waiting for them. This enigmatic figure greets the travellers and accompanies them on their journey. As they walk the travel from place to place, where they can see themselves. They see what they have done in the past, and in the future. Eventually they reach their destination, where they can once again see the present. The world runs excruciatingly slowly as they are almost drawn to the other circle, where they return to the normal world, forgetting all they have seen.   The circle condenses time and space into a single point for the travellers. The entity is a being as old as the devil in the mist, but even more enigmatic. He will accompany the travellers on their journey as they remember everything that they have, or will ever experience.
