Swander Tilius
Swander Tilius, or guard captain Tilius as he is often called, is a friendly guard captain Emeresia. He is diligent in his dutes and cares for his lifelong friend Lisa Dredge.

Tilius is remarkably fit and takes good care of himself, as befitting of a captain of the guard. He is well known for beating even golliaths and halforcs in armwrestling.

When nervous he suffers a moderacte case of insomnia.

Personal history
Guard Captain Tilius was born in a small town just shy of a days travel north of Arlen. His parents were carpenters and he was well on his way to become a carpenter, mary a pleasant young woman. Daily he prayed to Silvana thanking her for all she had deemed fit to give him, just as the clerics had instructed. All seemed well until the fateful day.
He awoke to shouts and burst out of his home, the village ablaze. The day was a cacophonyof blood, sweet and fear and he never could piece what had actually happend. All he knew is that by the time Lord Brightspire arrived, neigh a dozen of his fellow townsfolk had been slaughtered, including his betrothed.
In the coming days he would beg for Lord Brightspire to return his betrothed to him, but the lord refused, claiming it was not his place. Soon Tilius would head out on his own, determined to become strong enough to stop something like this happening ever again. He wamdered the land until, in the desert of Esmea he found onyx steps leading up to a plateau. On top he found the Devil of the Mist. The creature offered to give him the power he desired. Of cours, as it was custimary for the devil, he reminded Tilius that all he need do if he was unhappy with the deal was to return. He would take return the power to its origin in exchange for Tiliuses soul. The young man didn't care much and aggreed. Unbeknownst to him with the deal struck Charnel began to move. He stole the life force of a young elven girl in the far off land of Imyalian and transfered it to Tilius, it was an amusing idea of the devil after all.
roaming through the world the young man soon made a name for himself, but it all came crashing down soon after he met a middle aged elf woman called Lisa Dredge. They soon became friends and began traveling together but soon realized that she was aging abnormally quickly. He confronted her and discoverd that she had been cursed, and was quickly aging, her life force being drained from her. It did not take long for him to make the conenction, and privatly he vowed to save her. Together they tried everything, from blessings of Silvana and the secrets known only ba the ancient dragon Paramunth, to confront Diconom Rex himself. As the avatar of chaos death himself could (would?) not help them he became desperate. He vowed to tell her the truth, but he was to afraid. He did tell her that he had met the Devil of the Mist once before, and he would save her by sacrificing herself.
Lisa refused and was able to convince him that she heard that in the far north, in Helcrax, there should be something to save her. In reality, she knew there was no such thing, but she could also feel her life fading. She would not live long enough to return to the south. What neither of them was expecting was the man without a nose. He offered a simple trade. Lisa Dredge would travel to Emeresia and until she could do him a favor. Then , while staring only at Tilius, he said, "You will return to normal and everything else will stay the same."
To his disgust he agreed to this and before his very eyes Lisa turned into a young elf woman. Together they traveled to Emeresia and built a new life. They got an apartment and for the next few years Tilius would sleep on the couch. For while Lisa had shown her affection, he could never forget what he had done to her.

Swander has a deep affection for Lisa, but at the same time is fearful that Lisa only has affection for him because of what he has done for her, and not for who he actually is. It may nag at him but he does his best to ignore it. He has chosen long ago that he would not let anything else happen to Lisa.
