The Chimera Rebellion

One year following the arrival of the Tellans, political dissenter Gaelan Petra, son of Raelis Petra, Duke of Crestos, defects from the empire with his slave, Mika, and gathers runaway chimera slaves and human sympathizers under a unified banner of rebellion.

Together, Gaelan and Mika lead a growing militia of primarily-chimera soldiers against imperial strongholds throughout Abia. Gaelan uses his political savvy to sway centrist nobles to support his cause, while Mika acts as a commander of their forces and inspires his men take up arms against their oppressors.   The empire's response is apathetic at first and Arcana neglects to bolster besieged provincial holds with troops from the Royal Army, dismissing reports of insurgency as nothing but fringe skirmishes with upstarts and highwaymen. It isn't until the fall of Solva toward the end of the year that Arcana begins to see Gaelan and Mika's army for what it truly is: a rebellion.
