Personal history
Born in a no-name village in Khandar Vanushe was chosen at a young age to join the Temple of Twelve. Her talents with divine magic and physical activity was such that she was chosen to become one of the twelve sisters who serve the Secret Goddess. From the age of seven she underwent a harsh training regimen of prayer, study and martial training.
Aged sixteen Vanushe rejected her religious calling, and abandoned her goddess. Thereafter she travelled north, and fought with the Khandari army in the Coast War (995 - 1001). She distinguished herself during the fighting there, earning a an officer's commision. In 999 IC she was placed on the staff of Prince Manu, second in line to the Khandari throne. The same year Vanushe betrayed the Khandari by selling information of their troop movements to the Northern League. But not before murdering Prince Manu, she brought his head to the League as proof of her change of allegiance. The League's gratitude was worth its weight in gold. Yet by her actions the island of Khandar was no longer a safe place for Vanushe. She bought a ship, hired a crew, and set sail for the Free Cities.
Vanushe's time in the Free Cities was from then on frequently the subject of song. The bards sing of her stay in Penrith. There she uncovered a conspiracy against the Aedils, and slew the conspirators during the famous Equestrian Games. Thereafter she was found in the Seven Sisters where she found (and destroyed) a hidden Yuan'ti enclave. On Ciello she is best known for slaying the dragon Cadmus. It's skull now decorates the hall of Count Antonio de Aldershall.
Her failures are as famed as her triumphs. She was once defeated and held for ransom by the remnants of the Nevozrat armada. When attempting to escape she had her fingers cut off (later reattached by a cleric of Sol). Misfortune struck again when the crew of her ship mutinied. She had her throat cut in her sleep and was thrown overboard.
In the latter years of her career she accepted a long-term contract from the Union of Free Cities. She trained a team of "adventurers" which carried out high-risk operations and missions for the Union. One of these included a high-stakes heist in Sellaa . Exactly what was stolen has never been revealed. But the act itself remains a famed exploit of hers. In 1011 she purchased the title of "Baronette" at a massive discount from the Count of Aldershall, elevating herself to nobility. She bought a great trackt of land outside Vivaro, and set herself up as that town's economic patron. She has been living in the town since, throwing the occasional famous party.
