Basic Information

Anatomy

The Sheppec are an isolationist and proud people, who are quite different from humans. The women are taller, and have more muscle mass than their male counterparts. The women are also more prone to back pain, and other related issues. Both sexes boast a large pair of horns, that are a major part of their society. The longer and more curled, the more respected they are.

There is a wide variety of coloration, skin color, and more in the species. Red eyes and pale white hair would be considered fairly normal, if rare and odd.

Genetics and Reproduction

A normal gestation period for the sheppec is 280 days, and is in internal pregnancy with live birth.

Growth Rate & Stages

It takes 20 years for a sheppec to fully mature, in the mean time they go throw 2-3 distinct growth stages depending on sex.

Women go through 3 distinct growth stages, one at age 4, where they surpass any brothers or younger sisters in height quickly. The second at age 12-14, which is the onset of puberty for them, this is where they will surpass their fathers in height. Then the final growth burst at ages 16-18, where they match or surpass their mothers in height. For the men it is simpler with two growth stages. Their first growth stage starts at 4, where they surpass any younger sisters in height, and at the onset of puberty, 14-16, where they match or surpass their fathers in height.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are primarily herbivores, but can be opportunistic carnivores if they are pushed far enough. They farm their food, their staples being berries, lettuce, wheat, and other grains and fruits. They store their foodstuffs in protected bunkers and shelves, cooled to protect them from spoiling.

Horns play a large role in how a sheppec person is perceived and the horns' coloration more. Darker horns are associated with strong homemakers or farmers and are ascribed as masculine, or manly. Lighter horns are associated with leaders and royals and are commonly ascribed as feminine. A man who has a traditionally feminine horn color will either be pushed into a leadership role or shunned for trying to step into a woman's role. The man will not be directly harmed for it, but will be more lonely or will try to change his horn color to better fit his assigned gender. Women who have masculine horns, however, tend to have it worse. To the wider society, it is seen as demeaning for a woman to have mannish horns, and may be prone to bullying, teasing, or pressured to change their horn color.
