Mental characteristics

Personal history

Early Life

Uazgyai was an only child at first. His mother was a prominent member of Vel To'ori, while his father didn't reveal until after the birth of Uazgyai's little brother that he was a Tridomatric. His father left the family after being cast out, taking Uazgyai's little brother with him.
His mother was killed during a Tridomatric raid when he was a young child, and his maternal grandparents started raising him.

Adolescence

Uazgyai later became a prominent member of the Vel To'ori alongside his grandparents. He was a quick learner, picking up knowledge and new skills with an almost insatiable hunger for knowledge.

Young Adulthood

As a young adult, Uazgyai began taking an interest in history. The church embraced this interest, introducing him to the historical records they kept in their libraries.
It is believed that Uazgyai began contributing his own scrolls, though which scrolls are uncertain.

Adulthood

In his adult years, Uazgyai was a valued scholar of history. Many viewed him as being one of the forefathers of the Vel Tuturi Church, despite the fact that he died before the church was officially established.

Death

During a Tridomatric raid against Uazgyai's church, he took up arms against them and fought back. Unfortunately, the Tridomatrics outnumbered him, and he was soon overpowered and captured.
The next day, the Tridomatrics held a public execution, displaying Uazgyai's head on a spike above one of the Tridomatric churches.

Education

Most, if not all, of his education came from the Vel To'ori, who opened their sacred library to him and invited him to become a scholar.

Employment

Uazgyai was a scholar in the time before the Vel Tuturi Church was established. He is often credited with writing some of the scrolls that make up the Vel Tuturi History Tomes.

Personality Characteristics

Likes & Dislikes

  • Clocks
From a young age, Uazgyai was fascinated by the mechanics of clocks. As he got older, he began taking apart clocks to see how they functioned.
  • Puppets
Like with clocks, Uazgyai was fascinated by puppets. Specifically, he was fascinated by marionettes. He wasn't as impressed with marionettes as he was with clocks, however, contenting himself with just admiring the idea of controlling a small puppet with strings.
  • Puzzles
Uazgyai liked multiple kinds of puzzles, often seeing clocks as puzzles in their own right. This was a hobby kept up until his execution.

Vices & Personality flaws

  • Judgmental
Thanks in part to his father's betrayal, Uazgyai became distrustful and judgmental of anyone he met.
  • Emotionally Fragile
Also due to his father's betrayal, Uazgyai would sometimes worry that other people were secretly Tridomatric spies. This led to him finding it harder and harder to connect with others, which in turn weakened his emotional stability.

Social

Family Ties

Immediate Family

Mother - Uazgyai hardly knew his mother, as she died when he was a young child, during one of the Tridomatrics' many attacks on the Vel To'ori.
Father - His father was estranged from the family, being effectively cast out after he revealed that he was a Tridomatric himself.
Younger Brother - He didn't have the chance to really get to know his younger brother, as their father took him away after being cast out from the family. Uazgyai never found out what happened to him after that.

Grandparents

Maternal Grandparents - Uazgyai was pretty much raised by his grandparents, especially after his father was cast out from the family.
Paternal Grandparents - He never really knew his paternal grandparents, as they were worried that their son had spread Tridomatry to their grandson.

Religious Views

Uazgyai, like his mother and maternal grandparents, was part of an underground church that belonged to the Vel To'ori. Their worship was secret, often held deep within a nearby forest so the Tridomatrics wouldn't find them.

Speech

  • Got sarcastic and used short sentences when annoyed
  • Used unusual euphemisms, even in formal speech
  • Sentences would often start with "Yes", even if he was disagreeing with someone
"One of the bravest and most honorable men to have the honor of serving alongside. A terrible shame that he is no longer able to fight by our sides, but a great honor to know that he has joined our ancestors in enlightenment. May we one day greet him as equals in paradise."
