Lady Luck is a Eurekan Human and a current and prominent admin of the religious/political organisation Eureka.

History

Lady Luck was born Lucina Paxton within Keiman City to two wealthy wizard parents. She was raised quite well by the two, but she was quite the sick child, needing constant care and attention. She was raised to worship Marielle as all children of the time were and attended classes and communal worship faithfully.

One of these days, Marielle showed up to one of these worships, and young Lucina became absolutely enamoured with her. Many of the children ran to Marielle to embrace her, including her. The parents tried frantically to retrieve their children, but Marielle stopped them. She looked down at Lucina and could tell that she wasn't well, and picked her up. Everyone in the chapel was silent, save for Lucina, who was crying tears of joy for her goddess had touched her.

Marielle looked at her, and said unto her, "I can cure you of your many ailments, so long as you have absolute faith in me."

Lucina sobbed and nodded, already having absolute faith in her goddess from a young age, and Marielle abducted her and left the chapel without another word. She led the child out of the city and on a journey into the south, facing the large forest known as Chenos. "This is where I must leave you, child. Go into the forest and find its centre. There you will be cured of your ailments through your faith alone."

Lucina entered Chenos, and immediately felt the forest itself speak to her- Why are you here? Leave, young one, before you perish.

"I'm here to prove my faith and get better!" She yelled into the treetops, also likely loud enough for Marielle to hear her. Or at least, she hoped so.

You will find only death within my trees, and your faith will lead you to destruction and ruin, child, Chenos said.

Lucina started to run, looking around her for whatever this centre was. "I will survive because my goddess will protect me! I know this to be true, so don't try to persuade me otherwise!"

Chenos still tried to fill her mind with doubts, but Lucina pressed on until she couldn't hear him anymore. Mysterious silence filled the air, and she supposed she was getting close when she felt incredible pain in her neck. Warm blood flowed from the wound, and she stopped moving, shaking from the pain and fear. What if Chenos was right?

She took a few more steps forward, and she saw the vines hanging from the trees descend on their own accord, coming for her. No, she thought, Marielle would come for her and protect her, though her vision was fading from the bloodloss. She looked up one last time and saw a giant thaumite shard jutting out from the ground. Weak and without much willpower left, Lucina collapsed on the stone as everything faded to black.

When she awoke, she saw a gentleman washing blood from his hands and Eureka's crest on his shoulder. He looked over to her and told her that his name was Cruor, and that she had survived Marielle's test of faith. He didn't look particularly happy delivering this information, but he came over and placed a cool cloth on her throat. She felt no pain and no weakness as she had before. He told her that her name now was Lady Luck, as given to her by her goddess.

Lady Luck recovered quickly and served as an admin of Eureka for a few months as a protector of other admins before she was given a new task in a far away land- Collect information about the Ortheian Kingdom and spread the faith. She remains there diligently to this day.

Physical Description

Lady Luck is a young girl, no older than eleven years old, with tan skin and bright golden eyes. Her hair is a light mint green and falls into two long braids tied with small bows. She has freckles along her nose and cheeks, which are usually flush with colour.

She often wears light, pastel coloured-dresses and dancing shoes to give her a frail and dainty appearance. She wears a necklace of thaumite as a status symbol and sometimes puts on fake wings for fun. Lady Luck carries an ornate wand on her and a small pouch where she keeps her runes.

Personality Description

Lady Luck isn't evil by any means, and doesn't wish harm on anyone. She wants the best for everyone, and often tries to reach otherwise impossible compromises with her sweet act and general charisma. She's kind to those who work for her and rather generous (at times to the chagrin of Marielle). She does her best to forgive those who have wronged her, but knows better than to get taken advantage of more than once and shows no mercy to those who incite evil against her.

She very much is a pacifist and tries to avoid fights and confrontation at all costs. The runes she carries are all protective and evasive spells, like Fog Cloud and Fly. She makes sure she has bodyguards just in case she can't handle something, but she's very against killing others, preferring to subdue them or confuse them.

Awakened Ability

When she faced the Errant Edge, she did so without fear, believing wholly that Marielle would save her from death should it come to that. While Marielle had no intention of doing so, by her thoughts and faith alone, she Awakened with the ability to change fate itself.

Probability Manipulation

Lady Luck has the ability to manipulate what events will happen and what events won't happen, the order in which certain events will happen, and to manipulate randomly generated results to fit her purposes.

She is able to decide that a siege won't happen today, and the universe as it were would make it not happen due to the commander falling ill or an important delivery isn't delivered on time. She can also decide that a siege will happen today even if they aren't quite prepared, and the universe will make sure it happens, by the commander being full of courage and resolve or their underlings charging into battle causing the rest of the army to go in after them.

Lady Luck is able to decide that, if she knows ahead of time that certain events will happen, they can happen in the order she wishes. For example, one of her subordinates is going to talk to an enemy about plans, go to the bar, then poison the drink of someone there, she can change the order so they talk to an enemy, poison them, then go to the bar afterwards.

She's also able to manipulate the results of random events, like lottery pulls, dice rolls, and card draws. She usually uses this to show her power to the faithless, gaining their trust in relatively benign ways.

Religious Views

Lady Luck is completely devoted to Marielle and her cause, acting as her Divine Providence wherever she goes. She fully believes the Five Deities don't exist and that Marielle wants the best for Acate, spreading her worship where she can do so safely. She feels worship of other cult-gods is heretical, but respecting them and what they do is perfectly fine.

Lady Luck is revered by a few as a cult-god herself, which dismays her a bit, but she's come to the conclusion that they're merely thankful for her showing them the light in the form of Marielle's benevolence. So long as they worship Marielle, she sees the worship of herself as acceptable.

Wealth

Lady Luck is given whatever she needs by Marielle, including a small apartment in the city of Ylla Ortheiad. She has enough money to live off of as well as enough money to gable with if she wants, but nothing horribly extravagant. Most of her money now comes from tithes from her followers (tithing separately to her and Marielle) so she lives more than comfortably. She often reimburses her followers when they need money, not being one to keep more than she needs and not one to see people go hungry because of her.
