The First Expedition

Expedition

The first Expedition group departed Sanctuary with the aim of mapping the Surface.

On the 19th Day of the 12th Moon 17 B.F, Central sent out the first expedition group, having cleared the immediate vicinity of Sanctuary of wild beasts. The aim of the expedition group was to map out the rest of the Surface for resources, dangers, and potentially disover other intelligent beings.   The first discovery of the Expedition was the Great Road, which was overgrown and covered by earth. Despite the otherwise pristine condition of the Great Road, large roaming hordes of beasts proved to be a major hindrance to the expedition group.   The journey was a long and arduous one, with the expedition losing many members and resources along the way. Ultimately, it took the group a few months to circle the Surface before they made it back to Sanctuary. While only a fraction of the expedition returned in one piece, the sacrifices they made saw the discovery of three other walled areas similar to Sanctuary. A comprehensive map of the Surface and all major landmarks was drawn.   Not long after the first expedition, Central sent out settlers to the walled area to the East with the intent of developing the city and its namesake. It would later be dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and all things magic-related.
