Onduth Amberhide
Onduth Amberhide is a mountain dwarf, with a knack for taking his vitamins and saying his prayers brother.
Looking to expand the trade routes of his family from Hon Thorum, he eventually settled in Maccion. Looking at the long game, he was aware of the potential of a road opening up through to the north into the tribes of the Plainsmen. He quickly opened up a smelting and smithing shop.
Despite being the first smith in Maccion, he quickly gained a reputation of excellent craftsmanship. With the Red Fort nearby, and Maccion trying to develop, there was no shortage of work for him. The problem was always the supply. While the nearby mountains had good materials, it wasn't nearly as good as the metals in the Cal Madow mountains of his homeland.
He eventually wed a woman in Maccion, but had no children with her. They had a happy life for a while, but then with her outpacing him in the race to old age, he began to worry about her. With her mind starting to slip, she would sometimes wander the hamlet aimlessly (but happily), but no harm would come to her. Until one day she didn't come back.
The group first heard of Onduth here. This is when they heard about his missing wife, but had not yet met him. They eventually met him when they returned the locket of his wife, found at Gothal's house (along with her body).
Onduth gained fame and fortune as a consequence of the Battle of Maccion. Given his tenure and respect he had at Maccion, many considered him a de facto elder of Maccion. With the battle, everyone knew of his generosity and strength. With his trade, his wealth and better goods. He currently expanded the Forge Outside the Mountain, and has the beginning of a guild forming.
Relationship with the Pan Flute 5
Onduth only met the group after they were returning from the fight with Gothal. They had heard about the missing woman, and found her body with a locket from Onduth on her person. They returned it to him, and he said that he was in their debt. After the Battle of Maccion, and the opening of the trade routes up north, the group once again worked with Onduth. He wanted to trade some of his wares down south to Callipolis, where he could then in return get more valuable metals to smith with from Cal Madow Mts. The group signed on as escorts through the Kuno Forest. Eventually, the group made it to Callipolis, and traded the goods. Not needed for the trip back, they were paid for their time and effort at that point. Onduth will help the Pan Flute 5, within reason.Battle of Maccion
The Pan Flute 5 were quick to call in the favor. They convinced him to help in the preparations to defend Maccion. While he gave away much of his arms and armor to the local defensive militia, he also constructed siege ballista to help defend the ramparts that were constructed. This was very instrumental in the defense of Maccion, and as a consequence, Onduth enjoyed some fame for the fight.Delivery to Callipolis
After the Battle of Maccion the dust settled and Maccion began to grow. With it, and the part that Onduth played in the battle, the demand for Onduth's goods grew. In an effort to make connections with the dwarves of Munavurl, he decided to send some weapons and armor south to Callipolis. Luckily the Pan Flute 5 was fresh off their rest, and were open to a contract. The PF5 went through the Kuno Forest delivery route, and even though not all of the members of the trade route made it to the merchant, the goods did. The result of the delivery’s was a boon to Onduth's business. After that, Onduth's business continued to grow and has set up a sustainable guild in Maccion.
