The Bog of Colmar

"Grace bless me, if I need to step one more foot into that bog, then I shall have it be destroyed. What do you mean, I can't destroy a swamp? I don't care about it's culture and history. If I want to talk to my sister, I should not have to have all of my clothes smell like a dying toad!"
- Princess Delilah Grace
Long ago, before the Graceswift kingdom had a rulership by royal family, there was a collection of cities, known as the Landscapes. They represented different forms of governance found in this wonderous land. Colmar was one of them. A magocracy which relied on Witches of the local area to make the changes that best aided the people. However, one faulty mishap with a spell had caused the unravelling of the city, causing it to sink below, into the ground, followed by the area turning into a marshland, with sunken trees, small ruins of previously-large buildings, as well as only one building left to stand tall from Colmar's old ways, being a large tower, tilted on its side, with magical decorations hanging from the roof, showing that this used to be a Mage Tower. Now, it belongs to one of the princesses of the Graceswift kingdom, being the third eldest of the seven, Moira Grace. She keeps the local area safe, it's denizens and creatures, not treated quite as fairly as the more beautiful areas of the Graceswift area.
In the present day, the local area of the Bog of Colmar is home to hags, serpents, and also a Yuan-Ti settlement across the foggy walls from the western reaches, which is home to a few worshippers of magical beings that live in other reaches of this swamp. One example of this is the spirit that Moira Grace had formed herself through a ritual to bring back a pet of hers. It was a raven, but now in spirit form it takes the guise of an indiscernible bird, with a wingspan so great that it reflects off of the bog, causing bright patterns in the sky. These patterns are revelled as the sign of a mighty being commonly called Aquila. The bird itself is thought to be her Scion. As well as this group of serpentine dwellers, there is also a small village made up of parts of a mansion which had sunk into the swamp. Outside of these two locations, there are ghoulraisers that travel across the bog in search of scraps of food that they can turn into large feasts for themselves, through their necrotic powers. There lies one other powerful creature within the bog, isolated in relation to both Moira and the Yuan-Ti. A troll, one that houses a shell of a Greatshield, having belonged to an old Syr of the land, before the sinking of it's civilisation, along with him. This monstrosity stalks the small streams for any wanderers, and often transforms them into toads, worms, or even trees. Warnings have become common to hear for Colmar, especially for the troll.
Despite sharing the name with it's old kingdom, Colmar has been vastly different locations across history. Originally, it was a strong, bright city, with colour everywhere. The outer wall for defence was simply a collection of small mage towers, connecting together through a wall of stone. Entrance could have been granted at any of these towers, too. Most things found in a city could've been found here, but there was also a school of necromancy, which was where Moira Grace learnt her magic before it's sinking. She spent four years studying from professors, and when she returned to the Bog, she made her favourite teacher's classroom into her new home. The mage tower they lived in became her new home, and the jotters, notebooks, and tomes that Moira has found as filled the bookshelves around her. Moira had chosen to leave the main castle where the Graceswift family lived because of a dispute with one of her sisters, who had killed her youngest sister, Euphalia Grace. Moira despises her in particular, and due to her dislike to dirty areas, Moira found it even more enjoyable to live in the Colmar Bog. She only leaves her new home in order to communicate with Syr Adelize the Bellicose, as a duty to make sure her family does not worry for her own safety. Not as if it'd be an issue, Moira is quite the powerful mage.

Prosperous Tomes of the Bog

Moira's collection of books were saved from the sinking of Colmar, and has been kept in pristine condition for her to scry and study. She managed to save 134 books on magic, the undead, Colmar itself, and other topics of her interest. Some of them are magical, which she keeps over her bed, easy to reach in case she gets bored. One of those who chose to stay within Colmar during it's sinking was a young necromancer by the name of Edwin, who has decided to stay within another, smaller tower, nearby. It's his dream to become Moira's student, as he is obsessed with her necrotic abilities, fascinated by her tomes especially! Moira has reluctantly began to teach him, mainly just the basics to keep him from pestering her too much, as she says. In actuality, it's in case any dark force from the Bog, like a troll, would happen upon either one of them. Edwin would need to know how to defend himself long enough for her, or a Syr of Graceswift , to arrive.
Moira's been making a book of her own, too. Mainly taking the best bits of her other tomes so that she only needs to carry around a spellbook of her own. Due to the sinking of the old kingdom, and some other settlements in the vicinity, bodies are found everywhere, from those who had died before the sinking. Due to this, her magic specialises in raising the dead to be undead servants, momentarily, before resting once more. She does have the capabilities of a healer as well, only in minor capacities however as it'd only be her that she needs these spells for.
