Slivers of a Nightmare

The Hollow Abyss is home to many nightmares made manifest by the dreams and thoughts of the regular people of the world of Aitso. Melinoë, Goddess of Nightmares is their huntress, she enjoys fighting off these creatures whilst making sure none escape. Although in this time, she has gained the curiosity of their species, how they work, but one weird example of her curiosity is how they taste. Due to this, she sought out culinary experts, anywhere in Chthonia, along with the body of a large nightmare, in the shape of a Bogtreader Catoblepas . With help, she was able to turn it into a series of streaks, able to be cooked into a suitable meal. This paler meat reflects the same taste of the meat from which is originates. Although, to many, except celestials and divine beings, the meat is often rancid, and does not get blessed by a mortal being. The meat of many monsters is considered vile and distasteful. Monstrosities and aberrations, in particular, may have tainted blood or rancid tasting meat, especially nightmares that take on incomprehensible forms. Many describe this taste as perplexing, heretical, and vile. 

Flavours of this cuisine are quite bizarre. Even when modified with things of the overworld, or from other planes, they yield similar tastes to these additions but carry an emotion with them, inflicted onto the meals made with these meals. Often, people just describe these meals as just an emotion, aspect of life, or thought that has nothing to do with the culinary arts at all. Some even wonder why meals are still made with this. Different people enjoy different flavours. It does not help that Slivers of a Nightmare are so awful that it harms somebody who hates a certain taste. A person may dislike any number of flavors, but may only have one most hated flavour. If a character eats a meal of their most hated flavour, they suffer a point of exhaustion.

When cooking, these creatures can make it quite difficult to have a proper meal. Checks made with the Cookery Skill are always made on disadvantage whenever done for any form of food involving Nightmare meats. Although, dark forces from above do find the food tasty, and thus will drive their prices for the food up, as it often tastes of what the main aspect of the nightmare's appearance is, according to them. Black Dragons have reportedly relished in delight over the devouring of nightmare meat.
