Fae-Prowling
"Just trust me when I tell you this, those fae were worse than the trickster Feys. Spelt F-E-Y-S, not our version. It's weird, I know. Alas, they were cunning and simply evil. They had shapeshifting powers, not just for themselves, for us, too! Part of me thinks that the Kog were not just... made. It could've been them, imagine that! They could've turned somebody important into a fish with legs. A fate worse than death, don't you think?"Before their escape to the Feywild, the Fae were mischievous fiends that were considered as enemies of the Courts, specifically the Colmar and Graceswift courts. Stealing items, burning down stables and hunting down cattle, the Fae were originally ordered to leave the lands, but after their stay, a Warlord of the Colmar courts had issued a bounty onto every fae, of 100 GP per body. With that, the many adventurers and hirelings of the courts joint arms into hunts for them. Hundreds were slain within a month, and the remaining few would be forced into hiding. This event continued on periodically for the next coming years, and before long it had to come to an end thanks to the lack of Fae within the Courts. The newer generations look back in disgust to these actions, but nothing has been done as a form of punishment for the actions. Most people tend to try and forget of it, especially the hunters that had involved themselves.- King Marhault, to one of his granddaughters.
When these events occurred, the most common form of hunting was for the mass populace of a settlement to form a mob and go door-to-door, prowling the streets and other areas in search of the Fae. Bonfires were made, and many of the Fae were burned into ashes. Scarce regions were seen as havens, and it caused for both of the courts involved to expand, in a hunt for a species that were simple pranksters. What caused this event to come to an end was the divine intervention of Psyche, who made herself manifest over the courts, the first time ever. She managed to guide all of the Fae in hiding delve into the forests, to a Druid's Circle, where they were able to establish a link into the depths of the Feywild, where it was safe.
