Havere - Chapter 1, Session 7: Into the Black Heart (Part 3)
General Summary
The Bumbling Idiots continue their battle with Thordus Blackfoot. After hearing the sounds coming from Blackfoot's office, a psychic Duergar and a human monk join the battle. The psychic, a Duergar Mindmaster, commands Murgan to attack Findley while the monk goes in to punch him to death. Using a pressure point, the monk is able to stun Murgan for a few seconds leaving him open to attack. Meanwhile, Himo and Carnival finally manages to mortally wound Thordus's honor guard but not before one of them can knock Greg unconscious. Morgan wincing from the wounds the Blackfoot gave him, disengages from the fray to find a safe corner with Xenia giving him cover fire. However, Thordus is in pursuit and pummels Xenia into the far wall.
With the guard gone Thordus and the shaman are open to attack. Carnival takes the opportunity to attack Thordus while Xenia recovers from the punch and pelts him with arrows from across the room. The shaman seeing the battle turning heals to life one of the guards the just fell. Findley seeing everything going down casts a sphere of fire close to the shaman and newly healed guard and turns himself into a huge snake.
Meanwhile, the mindmaster tells Belinda to stab the stunned Murgan with her poison dagger while the monk continues to pummel at him. Belinda stabs the mindmaster back, and Murgan cleaves him in twain with his magic axe.
The healed guard comes to his senses and attacks Himo, but disoriented from the recent healing and loss of blood, he does not notice the flaming sphere behind him, catches on fire, and burns to death. Himo halfway laughing at the guard, kills the orc shaman with a well places punch to the neck.
Thordus seeing that the majority of his retainers have now perished goes on the full attack. He tries to super punch snake Findley which lands, but Findley is much to big to be pushed around. Frustrated he punches him again and uses is fire jet to hurt Xenia, Findley, Belinda, and Murgan. Murgan continues his fight with the monk.
Himo joins in the fray and knocks Thordus down. Everyone starts to overwhelm the mob boss. In desperation, Thordus concentrates his attacks on Carnival while continuing to blast fire at Findley, Belinda, and Murgan. It proves too much for Belinda who goes down, and Findley turns back into his human form. The rest of the gang kills Thordus who explodes with psychic energy. Murgan finally takes out the monk.
The Idiots loot the room and find a crystal ball communication device. They don't use it, they just wrap it up and put it away. They use a key they find on Blackfoot to open a small treasure room. Findley checks for traps and is restrained by a Rug of Smothering. The gang kills the rug (and hurts Findley a little, too) and burns it in the office. Greg determines that two of the three chests are fake and are some sort of trap, so Murgan and Carnival drag the third untrapped chest to the now smokey room to examine it contents.
Inside the chest contains the treasure of Thordus Blackfoot's organization. Xenia shoots and arrow at one of the chests and it grows arms, teeth and starts to dash towards her standing in the doorway. They wait for the Mimic to redisguise itself they begin to dispose of some of the bodies by throwing them on top of the monster who consumes them.
As the Idiots finish counting their treasure, they hear a heavy knock at the door with a loud demand from a Duergar that he see Blackfoot immediately. Greg put on his best charm and told them that Blackfoot was indisposed at the moment and could not see them. This offended the war-scarred Duergar Veteran, and after some insults to Greg and Blackfoot ordered his men to leave the lair.
Before they could leave, the Idiots had to tie up some loose ends. They woke up the mage that they had captured and convinced her in exchange for her life to do some favors for them and be their informant. Her one condition is that they kill the boy they had captured as he was a loose end. They agreed and let her go.
Then they woke up the boy who was a new recruit and obviously green. They learned his name was Thom Bordeaux. He recently joined the gang as a way to support himself and his aged grandmother. The Idiots pitied the poor boy and offered him a job working at their dilapidated property and also some protection and shelter in exchange for his life and a modest salary. He agreed.
The Idiots grabbed Thordus's metal arm and took to Winktod Gasketank to inform him that the The Black Heart would not be bothering the Gnomes anymore - at least to the degree that they were. Gasketank, obviously dumbfounded that the group had gone in and killed one of the leaders of the Black Heart instead of negotiating with him gave them their promised gold and made them promise that this transaction, contract, and event never happened.

Successfully found a way to keep the The Black Heart from messing with the Gnomes in Little Town.
