Stance Toward Other Nations

Encura’s relationships with other nations are as dynamic and fluid as the tides that surround its islands. Shaped by history, geography, and the ever-changing political landscape, Encura's approach to foreign relations reflects its unique values and pragmatic considerations.

The Redoe Alliance: An Enduring Bond

Encura owes much of its existence to the Redoe Alliance, which provided vital assistance during its early struggles against Dragsa. To this day, ships bearing the markings of the Alliance are welcomed as allies, granted favorable trade deals, and afforded the highest levels of hospitality. Encura’s ties to the Alliance run deep, built on a foundation of mutual respect and shared history. Leaders from both sides often meet to discuss mutual benefits, ensuring the bond remains strong in the face of external threats.

Banewood and Yv’anda Dryads: Allies of Mutual Understanding

Encura’s connection with the Banewood and Yv’anda Dryads stems from shared values and mutual respect for the natural world. Though contact is infrequent, it is always warm and cooperative. The Dryads’ wisdom and insight have significantly influenced Encura’s spiritual philosophies, particularly among the Shoal of Listeners. In turn, Encura’s citizens provide the Dryads with knowledge of the seas and rare aquatic herbs.

Trade with Northern and Southern Kingdoms

Encura’s strategic location along key maritime routes has fostered trade with nations to the north and south. This trade brings essential goods and exotic items to Encura while distributing its unique marine products to far-off lands. However, not all trade partners view Encura equally. Many remain wary of its history with Dragsa and the beastkin’s origins. While some traders are drawn by curiosity and the allure of Encura’s wonders, others hesitate to visit, fearing repercussions from Dragsa’s still-lingering shadow.

The Republic of Misty Waters: A Cold Neutrality

Encura’s stance toward the The Republic of Misty Waters remains neutral but tinged with coldness due to the Republic’s allegiance to Dragsa. While there is no outright hostility, the political ties between the Republic and Encura’s former oppressors prevent the formation of any meaningful alliance. Trade occurs sparingly, with neither side seeking to deepen their relationship.

The Disciples of Chaos: A Controversial Opportunity

The emergence of the Disciples of Chaos has disrupted the balance of power in Deuslair, presenting Encura with a divisive choice. While many Encurans view this group as a dangerous force, others see potential in aligning with them. To some, the Disciples represent a chance to challenge Dragsa’s dominance, either as an independent power or in collaboration with Encura. However, this perspective often stems from a lack of understanding of the Disciples’ true nature and intentions. The insular nature of Encura’s islands has left its citizens largely unaware of the Disciples’ destructive actions and the chaos they bring to other lands.

For many Encurans, the kingdoms now threatened by the Disciples are seen as indifferent bystanders during Encura’s struggles against Dragsa. This view fosters a certain indifference toward their plight, encapsulated in the phrase often murmured in Encura: “Deadwood does not weep for the axe.” This sentiment underscores the complex interplay of history, loyalty, and opportunity in Encura’s evolving stance toward the world beyond its shores.

To sail Encura’s seas is to witness a nation shaped by tides of loyalty and stormy mistrust. An ally to some, a wary observer to others, yet steadfast in its purpose. Its stance is as ever-changing as the ocean it calls home.
