Serpent Haven

Perched atop the jagged cliffs of northern Sidonia, Serpent Haven stands as a testament to the power and resourcefulness of Blackeye Drex. Built from the bones of his legendary flagship, the Shadow Serpent, this sprawling stronghold looms over the sea like a specter of past conquests. The creaking of the wooden beams, the scent of salt and aged timber, and the ever-present sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below lend an eerie vitality to this pirate citadel. It is more than a home—it is a fortress, a monument, and a warning to those who would challenge the rule of its master.

Architecture & Design

Serpent Haven is a structure unlike any other in Sidonia, blending the skeletal remains of a warship with the sturdy reinforcements of a fortress. Its wooden walls are lined with the ribs of the Shadow Serpent, its grand hall shaded beneath the upturned hull of the once-mighty vessel. The main entrance, guarded by iron-plated doors salvaged from conquered ships, leads into a vast chamber where treasures of the sea—both material and mystical—are displayed as reminders of Drex’s victories.

The mansion is divided into multiple sections, each serving a unique purpose:

  • The Grand Hall – The heart of Serpent Haven, a vast chamber where Drex holds feasts, negotiations, and declarations of war. The ship’s mast, now repurposed as a massive chandelier, looms above, adorned with lanterns and pirate banners.
  • The War Room – A heavily fortified room filled with naval charts, maps of Misty Waters, and models of ships, where Drex and his captains plan their next moves.
  • The Private Quarters – The most guarded section of the mansion, where Drex and his most trusted advisors reside. Only the highest-ranking members of his fleet are permitted entry.
  • The Lower Vaults – An underground section carved into the cliffs, containing storerooms, weapon caches, and Drex’s most valuable possessions.
  • The Watchtowers – Perched on the mansion’s highest points, these towers house lookouts armed with long-range flintlocks and spyglasses, ensuring Serpent Haven remains impenetrable from the sea.

Reputation & Influence

Serpent Haven is not merely a place of residence—it is a symbol of power. Pirates across the Misty Waters know that an invitation to Serpent Haven is both an honor and a danger, for entering its halls means stepping into Blackeye Drex’s domain. The fortress is rumored to house untold riches, relics from lost civilizations, and even secrets that could reshape the archipelago’s balance of power.

Few outsiders have ever set foot within its walls, and fewer still have left with their secrets intact. For the captains who sail under Drex’s banner, it is a sanctuary; for his enemies, it is an ominous silhouette on the cliffs—a reminder that the Shadow Serpent still looms over the seas, even in death.
