Herja

The Land of Eternal Conflict

Herja, the Land of Eternal Struggle, lies to the south. Its landscapes are scarred by conflict but tempered by resilience. This continent is a stark contrast: vast deserts, deadly marshes, and desolate ruins speak of a turbulent history. Herja's story is written in the sands of Kartagis and the charred remains of the Godless Lands, a tale of survival against all odds.

Kartagis: The Desert Frontier

To the west lies Kartagis, a sprawling desert of shifting dunes and searing heat. This vast expanse is home to many fiercely independent nations, their neutrality a testament to the desert’s natural defences. The daunting dunes form an almost insurmountable barrier, shielding Kartagis from the reach of the Fortress of Dragsa and the Disciples of Chaos alike. Yet neutrality does not equate to peace, for the desert dwellers face constant incursions from the audacious pirates of the Scareguards Archipelago.

As one ventures deeper into Kartagis, the heat grows oppressive, and the land becomes ever more unforgiving. The southernmost reaches are marked by the Dunes of the White Eyes, where an eerie ailment steals the sight of those who linger too long, leaving their eyes milky white and their fates uncertain. It is a place of both mystery and peril, where the land itself seems to conspire against life.

The Bleeding Mire

Eastward, the oppressive dryness gives way to the fetid expanse of the Bleeding Mire. This toxic swamp is a haunting place, and its waters choked with gases and its shores strewn with the remains of the dead. No one knows for certain how this marsh came to be, but its ominous presence predates even the arrival of the Disciples of Chaos. The marsh is said to be restless, its mists swirling with ghostly forms and whispers of despair.

The Godless Lands

Beyond the marsh lies the Godless Lands, a desolate territory ravaged by the initial onslaught of the Disciples of Chaos. Charred remains of once-thriving civilizations stand as haunting memorials to the devastation wrought by these invaders. Though rain occasionally graces the land, it offers little solace, for the soil remains blighted and hostile to life. The landscape is barren, its emptiness punctuated by the grim silhouette of Wurgar Fortress, a bastion of Chaos built by the hands of enslaved captives. This fortress stands as both a warning and a challenge to all who would defy the Disciples of Chaos.

Sizzle Edge and the Bay of Sleepers

Herja’s western coastline is defined by the Sizzle Edge, a region where the sea itself boils. As deadly as it is mesmerizing, this phenomenon defies explanation and forms a natural barrier to those who would traverse its waters. To the south, the Bay of Sleepers gathers the remnants of the lost—sunken ships, scattered belongings, and the bodies of the unfortunate carried there by the currents. It is a place of grim beauty, where the past lingers in eternal repose.

A Land of Resilience

Herja’s people are as unyielding as the land they inhabit. From the nations of Kartagis to the survivors of the Godless Lands, they endure against all odds, their spirits forged in the fires of hardship. Yet, Herja is also a land of opportunity for those brave enough to face its dangers. Adventurers seeking ancient relics, lost knowledge, or a cause worth fighting for will find no shortage of trials or rewards here.

A Continent in Conflict

Herja is a land at war with itself and the forces that seek to dominate it. From the audacious pirates of the Scareguards Archipelago to the relentless Disciples of Chaos, the continent is a battlefield of ideologies, ambitions, and survival. Yet, amidst the chaos, Herja’s spirit endures, a testament to the resilience of life in even the harshest of lands.
