Goland Ilkin
Older sister to Ruya Ilkin and mother of four. Goland is the second oldest of the five children of Sarnai Ilkin and Baghatur Ilkin. In her childhood the Ilkins lived with the army at the Garal-Zhenhai border. Even then, family life was difficult, and Goland and her siblings grew close as they struggled to deal with their alcholic father and exacting mother.
Goland married Imre Mongke at a young age and moved with him to the capital, where they assisted Imre's family on their well-established farm. The two later established their own home and housed her sister Uyanga.
Goland is a compassionate but anxious woman who has a tendency to worry when things do not go according to her expectations. She visits Ruya after the War of Eternal Day and renews their relationship, bringing Ruya much-needed acceptance and perspective about their early family life.
