Eskern Forest
The Eskern Forest is one of the many supernatural forests of the Island of Woad, home to many creatures and a fundamental part of the Heno Empire. It operates on a 9 year cycle where the forest destroys itself and then rebuilds, facilitated by the Locii and their allies.
What are your non-earth-like geographical features in your setting?
- Pollen Veil - High Content of Pollen in the mist, creating a golden cloud of "horizontal rain"
- Trees are twice or three time as large as they are in modern Earth, due to the way oxygen is filtered by the Wrakka (trees with a human soul) and the nutrients provided by its inhabitatnts.
- Limited sunlight reaches the bottom which means bioluminescence is a thing, reflective silk and saliva is used
- Lichens for necromancy, a LOT of Alrauna comes from the flowers around trees and often these trees also act as gardens for communities.
What’s the general “lay of the land” of your active worldbuilding area?
- Lower altitude areas are humid and hilly, a lot of orchids and lillies as well as moon plants live beneath the canopy, these tend to house the Halfwing people
- Higher altitude areas have Wyva built into the trees, including a superterranean monorail constructed out of several blackthorn trees which have been linked together through magic
- A mix of cloud forest and healthland
- Dense populations in trees with densely populated dense canopied forest floors
- A few deep narrow valleys and waterlogged floodmeadows
- A few forest edges that have become exploited due to more light and wind, with pioneer and invasive species
And what is the climate or environment like, in your active worldbuilding area?
- Hot, humid summers and mild winters
- High humidity and mild, stable temperatures.
- Some microclimates that are especially waterlogged, mineral-rich, or brackish
Next, What is the ecosystem & habitat like in your active worldbuilding area?
- Orchids, bromeliads, mosses and liverworts, ferns and filmy ferns, lichens, begonias
- Shorter, gnarled trees - oaks, laurels, magnolias, tree healths
- Lots of woody vines and lichens, horsehair
- Horror Hens - brightly coloured "birds of paradise" but are extremely poisonous to eat
- Coriniaid Coatis, ABC (cat), Coriniaid Marmosets, Flitterfolk, Flying foxes
- Lots of eels and legless amphibians - land eels and salamanders
- Ant people,Kubeleya, aphids, milipedes/centipedes

- The mountains contain the following:
- Heavy Metals - Mercury, Arsenic
- Citron - Humic acid, amber, lots of resin
- Flint - Quartz
- Brimstone - Sulphur, Kalium, Oxygen Pockets
- Brine - Salt, Evaporite
