The Highborn

Also known as "the Highborn", "the Ageless" or "Cat-ear's"*.
Elves are the most long lived of all mortal's. This in turn makes arrogant and seeing themselves as greater then other mortal's. A human, or even dwarfish, master blacksmith can never measure themselves against a elven master of the craft in terms of raw skill. Why? Because the elf master has spent many of their kinds lifetimes perfecting his art. Even tho the human master is far stronger and the dwarf master can make seven items for the elves one.
This slow aspiration for perfection drives nearly all elves. It is the cornerstone of all of there civilization. Even their faith is focused on this goal of being perfect. Those elf's have during most of their history looked down on the "mortal's" as they called other race's. In the elven mind all other race's are lesser being's. They believe themselves to be the descendants of god's.
A belief strengthened by the fact that elven/human unions results in orc's. This, say the elven priests and priestesses, proves that human blood is corrupting. As there breeding of elf and man crate's monsters that most be because humans a dark being's at there hearts!
* Human epithet for elves.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves are on average shorter then human's. Which gives them a average height of somewhat shorter then most human's.
Elven skin come in shades of light, golden and light brown.
Elven bodies are slim and elegant in there shape. Their muscles are more compact then that of a human. And you seldom see any elf whit fat on them. Tho the few that do allow themselves to grow fat look truly grotesque.
Their eye's come an a great number of colors, blue, green, golden, violet and red are only the most common way of describing them. They hold a sharpness and beauty never seen in human eye's.
Elven hair, the envy of most other mortals, also come in a number of magnificent colors. Sun golden, night black, forest brown, moon silver, fire red or ocean blue their hair flow from there shoulders. However elf men can not grow beards, nor do elf's have any body hair (whit the exception of pubic hair)

Genetics and Reproduction

Elven women are only fertile for three days once every 17 years. Because of the elven children are rear and many elven cultures encourages there people the have many lovers.

Ecology and Habitats

Elves love to see plant life grow. Therefor elves seldom settle high on mountain slops, tundras or deserts.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elves are omnivores, but prefer to eat vegetables, fruits or bread.

Biological Cycle

A elves is seen as a child until it turns 17 years and is then a youngster until the age of 300 years. The next 400 years said elf is seen as a fully adult elf. At the age of 700 years age at last starts to effect a elven body. No elf, after the Sundering, as ever lived longer then 800 years.

Elves have better sense sight, hearing and smell then most humans in general. They also have eye's that can charm most mortal beings simply by looking deep into said victims eyes. Some also say that some of there kind can command the wind. But this could just be myths resulting in there extreme mastery of archery.
Elves are however born whit a greater aptitude for magic.
