Kitt Borovic

Kitt Borovic grew up in the village of Guthram, the youngest of three siblings orphaned by tragedy. Her mother, Danika, and unborn sibling died in a supposed wild animal attack while returning from a visit to the wise woman Malgorza, though her father’s haunted retelling always left Aleksey—the eldest—uneasy. Their father, Ruben, withered into silence and despair, eventually taking his own life days later. Left under the care of a kind-hearted druid named Branek, Kitt was raised in the shadow of whispered superstitions about her family’s cursed bloodline, a lineage said to descend from the folk hero Arkadiy Zelenkov. Though Guthram offered little kindness, she found refuge in her duties assisting Branek, tending the sacred glade, and learning the ways of the Twilight Queen’s priesthood.
At eleven years old, Kitt’s life took another harrowing turn when she and several other children were abducted by goblins and locked in a cage-bound wagon deep in the fens. Their fate remains unclear—whether meant for trade, sacrifice, or worse—but the caravan never reached its destination. One moonless night, as the goblins quarrelled over something unseen, a great boar crashed from the tree line in a frenzy of blood and tusk, scattering their captors and shattering the cages. The children fled into the wild in terror and confusion, and though most were later found by searchers from Guthram, the details of their escape have never quite aligned. Kitt remembers only flashes—screams, mud, a pair of red eyes in the dark. The villagers later spoke of the “Boar of the Borderlands,” and some claimed the creature was a spirit sent by the forest itself. But no one ever saw it again. And not even Kitt or her friends understood what truly happened in the fens that night.
Three years later, on the cusp of adolescence, Kitt underwent her sacred vigil in the Hollow to begin her path as a priestess of The Queen of Dreams and Shadows. Guided by Branek and another masked Keeper, she swore the Oath beneath the watching woods and faced a night of dream-trials in solitude. Though the visions were unsettling, she emerged with her vow intact, bearing the Silver Bloom—a single strand of hair turned moon-silver, a mark of her acceptance. Yet something lingered. She told no one what she saw in the Hollow, not even Branek. And the very next day, The Borderguard arrived—and chose Piotr for conscription. As he departed for the northern garrisons, wearing ill-fitting armor and his old medallion at his throat, Kitt felt a quiet dread take root. It was the last time she saw her brother.
Now sixteen, Kitt has grown into her role as a young Keeper of the Twilight Path, carrying out rites with a quiet solemnity beyond her years. Though still under Branek’s guidance, she has become a familiar figure in Guthram’s twilight rituals—gathering herbs at dusk, whispering prayers over troubled dreams, and tending the unseen places where old things linger. Her mask, carved from mossbound darkwood and shaped like the bark-shrouded face of a Leshy, is veiled in living green and twined with creeping vines. Its eyeless stare evokes the enduring presence of the wild itself: the hush beneath boughs, the rot that feeds the soil, the patient strength of things that do not need to speak to be respected.
