Danika
Danika
Danika Borovic was the heart of her family—practical, warm, and tireless in the face of hardship. She raised her children with quiet strength and kept the household together through lean seasons and whispered village gossip. Though not one to involve herself in old tales or superstitions, she sought the counsel of the wise woman Malgorza late in her fourth pregnancy, troubled by a sense that something was not right. She never returned. Danika was killed on the road home, along with her unborn child, in what was called a wild animal attack—though the truth of that night was never clear. Her death marked the unraveling of the Borovic family.
