Gogu Ilionescu is killed by a ravenous vampire thrall during the height of the outbreak. Unlike the other thralls he does not fully succumb to his thirst for blood and remains aware of who he is. He was the first to resist the curses strength but not the last. As he was able to control his blood lust he managed to escape the encirclement of the outbreak by the Hunter's Guild and other forces.
