New York State Department of Supernatural Affairs

The departement of supernatural affairs was founded only 1 year after the fall of the veil. it was founded to deal with the appearance of the supernaturals which had thrown the world into chaos. The deparement really handles many, many different issues and has been crucial in preserving the peace in New York.
The departement employs around 500 people already nwo that it has existed for two years. There are task forces for all sorts of issues. The departement maintains relations with most of the factions of supernaturals which have a presence in the state. Most of these factions of course are in New York City, but there are many in the adirondack moutains as well.
The goal of the departement is to make sure that the supernatual residents of New York are integrated into society and become a part of human government. This both helps the humans as they can have some control over the movements and actions of the supernaturals. Which also helps them to better understand them. This understanding has the goal of reducing fear of these powerful creature of the dark.
For the supernaturals it is a single point of contact where they can interact with the local human government and can get help. this can be help with getting citizenship, or getting even accepted as a resident or sapient being.
Most supernaturals are warry of the depertement as some have made bad experiences with them. This is sad and has improved in more recent years. As more and more supernaturals have been helped and the departements understanding of the supernatural world has improved bad encounters have reduced.
Finally the departement guides the broader policy descisions of New York which affect supernaturals and humans alike. Or how human laws have to be adapted to work for all supernaturals as well. The governor gets a lot of information they need to effectivly govern these new peoples.
Early efforts faced many issues. One of these issues was even just understanding each other as not all supernaturals speak English as were so isolated from human society they had no need to learn the language.
Informing the public about potential threats and dangers while at the same time not causeing a huge panic was a big task. There was definitely a lot of panic in the first few days or even week that needed to be addressed.
Later on conflicts about land use and territories became the biggest issue especially outside of the city. Often supernaturals and humans had lived alongside each other without really interacting at all. And now suddenly they realized that they had been sharing all this time. These conflicts were of course almost able to be settled peacefully but there had to be first some kind of understanding.
The largest action of the departement was the creation and pushing of special territories. These administrative territories helped supernatural communities to integrate themselves with human authorities and greatly increased the acceptance of their rights and powers. Though there are still many that are unhappy.
The departement monitors activity of anti-supernatural groups whicha have threatened violence or have acted violent against supernaturals. At the same time of course they also monitor supernatural communities which are considered dangerous to humans. This includes vampires and theians for th most part.
The departement heavily cooperates with the hunters guild in this matter as they are the experts. The departement has hired a number of former guild members into their ranks for their know-how and experience to deal with supernaturals.
they also cooperate closesly with the Office of the Archdruid of New York. This office is the first Ansprechsperson to mediate conflicts between different supernatural communities or between human and supernatural communities.
