Jotunhvid

After the Ordning broke down a small group of storm giants and their retinue fled to a pair of isolated islands in the Sea of Winters. There they tried to rebuild the Ordning and mostly succeed. They still follow the general hierarchy of the giants but with a few changes. The other tiers are given more leeway in self judgement and representation.

The head of Jotunhvid is the Mountain King. The current king Esbor has created a group of advisors called the Mornavul made up of members of all types of giants. Contrary to the title Esbor is a female storm giant. The giant language only has one word for monarch but she prefers the translation king to queen as she rules in her own right.

Jotunhvid does not deal with outsiders on a regular basses. Sometimes they sell weaponry or giant magic in exchange for rare raw resources. They have made a few large trades with Galtarland for food and used Riki Björn as a intermediary with Hammerdeep for mythril.

The giants do not like the other people of Útgarðar but will tolerate them for trade and occasional alliances when dealing with a large threat. The giants are organised in a lose cast system that is modeled after the Ordning of old. Storm giants are the rulers, cloud giants are the nobles and managers, frost giants are the warriors, fire giants are the forge masters, stone giants are masons and laborers, and hill giants are servants and serfs. A few clans of goliaths also live on the mountains and serve a verity of roles.
Trivia
  • Every few hundred years or so the forces of Jotunhvid march out and try to re-conqueror all of Útgarðar. Inevitable everyone bands together against them and they are fought back to start the cycle over again.
  • Giant cheese made by the mountain goats of Jotunhvid is a rare delicacy in Útgarðar. A nice gentleman in a suit tends to place large orders of the stuff.
  • It is rumored that a captured red dragon powers the forges of Jotunhvid, of course that's just a myth.

"Giants great fighters, riddle makers, and illusionists. At least I think they are? Have they changed so fast in so little time? I need to go visit Vafthruthnir again, no wait he's dead"
