Ancients

The ancients were the first living creatures on Ûnduleah, the elemental forces of the world created them. Legend tells us that there were four Ancient species created in the beginning:

• The Antler-headed
• The Six-legged
• The Eagle-winged
• The Fox-tailed

There is rumor a fifth ancient, but they are only called 'the unspoken ones'.


Each ancient is said to embody two elements and their respective traits.
The antler-headed: plants(caring) and water(adaptability)
The six-legged: ice(guarding) and earth(defence)
The eagle-winged: wind(progress) and fire(aggression)
The fox-tailed: animals(creativity) and celestial(intelligence)

according to the myth of How the Ancients made de dwarves the youngest children of each of the ancients created the other races by crafting snowmen and giving them life.

The antler-headed

The antlered ancients stood slightly less tall than the other types. Their body was slender and brown and green. They had the rear body of a deer, walking upright on two tall hooved legs with a little white tail. Their upper body was covered in vines and roots, that along with their moveable massive antlers they used as their hands. Their favourite place to be was the woods near lakes and rivers. Created the Quoyah / Woodlanders and the Source Tree

The six-legged

The Six legged were big and covered in thick white fur. They walked on six bulky powerful legs. But they could lift their front body up, standing only on four legs, so that their front legs could be used as arms and hands. They were the biggest of the four types. They preferred to live on the foothills of mountains. Created the Dîn Dwarves

The eagle-winged

The eagle-winged had a grey-brown feathered body with two massive wings on their back. Despite their size they could actually fly short distances. They loved perching with their clawed feet on the tops of mountains, swooping down and flying over the grassy valleys. Especially rift valleys. Created the Humans

The fox-tailed

The fox-tailed had an orange/red and white softly furred body. They had five massive white tails with each a different coloured tip. They walked upright and had foxlike feet. Their hands looked like paws but had opposable thumbs on both sides of their palm. They were very nimble and loved creating new things. Under a full moon they gathered on the hills and howled songs together. They also loved playing games, and particularly cheating. Created the .. (Kadi?)

Genetics and Reproduction

The ancients could nog reproduce in the sense of having sex and getting babies. New ancients were conceived from the elements themselves.

Growth Rate & Stages

A newly created ancient would be relatively small (2 meters) and have child-like tendencies, where the world is new to them and they learn through playing and exploring. However they are fully capable of communicating with the older ancients.
As they learn to embody their respective elements their body grows, but especially their iconic body part grows massively. The antlers for example grow from tiny stubs to majestic antlers.
It takes about 50 years for an ancient to fully grow to their maximum size of 8 meters
