Quoyah / Woodlanders

The Quoyah, commonly referred to as the woodlanders, are a race created by the antler-headed Ancients . This ancient being was tied to water and plants. So this race inherited a deep connection with the world's flora. They usually live in wooded areas as they build their homes out of living trees. They plant the trees in such a way that they can graft the branches together to create a living exterior. They usually heat their homes in the colder months with warmth harvested from compost, on top of the usual lava rift heat.

Naming Traditions

Family names

Most members of a clan get names after flowers or other plants. Family names are usually based on which area of the woodland they live in.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

The larynxes of these people are optimized for imitation. So while they can speak common, they can also imitate calls from many different animals. It's not like they can 'speak' with animals, but if a group has had enough contact with certain animal species, they learn some of the basic calls and can use those to communicate on a basic level.

Shared customary codes and values

Living in harmony with nature is a high ideal, this especially goes for plants. Eating for example berries of a plant is a common food, but burning wood is frowned upon. Using living solutions is always the preferred method of creating any desired effect. Like how they use the heat from compost for their homes.

Common Taboos

Destroying nature with no clear purpose
