Located in the Indi Prime system of the Cerberi Galaxy. The Grand Cathedral of the Eternal Flame was built on Lokale 5 shortly after the Zarcanians settled there. As Lokale 5 was not already under the jurisdiction of another species or an organisation, the Zarcanians didn’t need to request permission to build the Grand Cathedral.

Building the Grand Cathedral was one of the first things the Zarcanians did when they settled Lokale 5; with the exception of housing. Practically every Zarcanian helped with construction as they are an extremely religious species and most are a part of the Casteel.

For any member of the Casteel who has made the trip to Osiron, the Grand Cathedral is their home. They may live outside of its walls, but as the Terrans like to say ‘home is where the heart is’ and for the Casteel their heart burns for the Eternal Flame. The Grand Cathedral represents the Eternal Flame - a physical manifestation of its being - because for the Casteel the Eternal Flame is not a person, it is a place.

The building itself towers above all others in the area. It is large enough to hold up to 100,000 people in the main communion area, a feat which is achieved through tiered stands. In addition, the Grand Cathedral has living quarters for the various members of the Casteel, with a capacity of 1,000.

Heart of the Cathedral

The main communion area - known as the ‘Heart of the Cathedral’ - is situated in the centre of the building. It is hexagonal in shape and two of its sides are three times the length of the other sides. In the centre of the room there is a stage where all manner of religious rites take place such as the Sacrament of Tears or the Ceremony of the Blaze Eternal. Around the stage is a wide walkway, allowing access to and from the stage to the ground floor exits.

The first tier of stands is on the ground floor. The stands run along five out of six sides of the room whilst one of the longer sides is kept clear - this is to allow for any standing demonstrations to take place should the stage itself not suffice. This tier has a capacity of 15,000 people.

The second tier of stands is on the first elevated floor level and runs along all six sides of the room. Unlike the first tier, these stands are cordoned off into six separate sections, where one section represents one side of the room. The capacity for this tier is 20,000.

The third tier of stands is on the second floor and, much like the second tier, runs along all six sides of the room. Each stand is cordoned off into eight separate sections - one section running along each of the smaller walls, whilst the larger walls are split into two sections each. The capacity for this tier is 30,000.

The fourth and final tier of stands is on the third floor. Again, the tier runs along all six sides of the room and is cordoned off into eight sections, split the same way as the third tier is. The capacity for this final tier is 35,000.

Hanging from the bottom edges of the third and fourth tier stands and from the centre of the ceiling are screens. These project whatever is happening on the stage so that those sitting in the higher tiers can still see what is going on.
