Lumisorb

Lumisorb is a pure black substance capable of absoring all light and is derived from the wraith plant. It is very rare, due to a number of factors, and is much sought after by The Astronomers for a variety of uses. Once produced it has a thick, tacky consistency and can be applied to other surfaces or substances, once dried it forms a flexible rubbery coating.It can also be moulded into any shape required by by the user.
Wraith plants can only be found in Souden Vale, which is only the first obstacle to be overcome in the process of making lumisorb. The plants are not common and are usually hidden in out of the way nooks and crannies, it is rare to find more than four or five plants growing together in any one spot.
Once the plant has been successfully gathered then begins the long, messy and smelly process of turning it into a usable substance. The whole process takes several days, and requires multiple mashings, boilings and extractions, and each stage seems to produce worse and worse odours. Once produced, lumisorb can be stored in its viscous state for nearly a year, providing it is kept in a sealed container. After the lumisorb has been applied to a substance, or moulded into it's desired shape, and allowed to dry it can last for several years, depending upon wear and tear.
The Astronomers have several uses for lumisorb and continue to find more however, due to its limited availability, they have to prioritise its applications. Most of the lumisorb produced is used in the many experiments The Astronomers conduct on Constellation light, its ability to absorb all light has many applications. This ability is also useful to the Research Scout as it makes for excellent camouflage, and has a number of defensive applications
