Souden Vale
Once a fertile, rolling landscape of fields and wooded hills, Souden Vale is now a place of death and muated wildlife. The city of Souden lies near its centre, empty of the thousands of souls who used to call this place home. The entire vale is under the influence of a particularly nasty Constellation which seems to have locked its "gaze" upon this region. The Astronomers have observed that the Constellation always appears to be in the exact same spot in the sky no matter the time of day or year. This in itself is of great concern to The Astronomers, as they have been unable to explain this odd behaviour, but not as great a concern as the light it gives off.
Within a couple days of the Constellation appearing in the sky people began getting very sick, as did most of the creatures who lived in the valley. Most people put it down to The Dimming and remained in the city as they thought it would be safe, in fact many people from the adjoining countryside also fled here. Within a few days more almost everyone in the valley was dead, even those sick people who did decide to leave most of them also died, as the damage had already been done. The valley lay forgotten as the rest of the world dealt with their own problems.
These days the valley is a much different place, most of the plant life died along with the people and animal life, so the ground is mostly just dirt and rock. Wind and rain have eroded the loose soil and exposed the rock beneath, so now strange rock formations dot the ground. As is often the case, life has found a way to exist here, some through mutation, and some are new species all together. However, most living creatures cannot last longer than a few days here before beginning to get sick. Any longer than seven days and death is almost always the outcome, even if the person if the person removed from the area.
