The Burrows

Located a couple miles south-east of Souden Vale, The Burrows, as the residents call it, is a research outpost set up by The Astronomers. Its purpose is to be both a temporary home and research station for the scientists and researchers who are working and living there. The outpost is situated underground in a network of three caverns, where buildings have been constructed to house both the researchers and their equipment. The largest of the caverns is given over to residential buildings, the second biggest is dedicated to the research labs, and the smallest of the caverns is used for food and equipment storage.   As well as housing, the residential cavern also contains areas set aside for recreation and entertainment. There is a communal dining hall, a small bar, a space to exercise and play sports, a library, and even a small garden area using artificial lighting. Most of the buildings are made of pre-fabricated wooden panels, which can be assembled and taken down with relative ease, allowing for a flexible living space depending on how many people are asigned here at once.   Again most of the research buildings are made of pre-fabricated wooden panels, though some are made from stone or metal, depending upon their purpose. Each building has a well lit sign outside stating its purpose, the name of the person in charge of its facility, and its hours of operation. Buildings tend to be grouped together in loose circles depending on purpose and research type. There is also the administration building, a building with small quiet study spaces and meeting rooms, and off in one corner the waste processing buildings.   There are usually between forty to fifty people living and working here at any one time. People are generally stationed here for no more than six months at a time. This is both a precautionary measure, due to the proximity of the harmful Constellation light, and for their mental health and well being, living underground for prolonged periods of time can have negative effects on some people. As well as the fact most have families and friends back home, they wish to spend time with. There are very few, if any, children living in the Burrows as most parents don't wish to expose their children to the dangers. However some parents may bring older teenagers, especially if they are also their apprentice or studying a field of relevance.
