Meadowseep (Meadow-seep)
The Meadowseep is the largest body of water in Odaesong, located near the southern boundary of Phenada's territory.
Geography
The Meadowseep is predominantly fresh water. The far northeastern portion of the lake, where it narrows to reach the sea, experiences some fluctuations in salinity with the tide. These saltier portions are surrounded by thick mangrove forests, lacking the cypress and tupelo trees from further inland. The lake is fed by runoff from higher elevations and water seeping up from the earth. The Nitca river is connected to the Meadowseep by small channels that change seasonally, but they are largely independent.
Ecosystem
The Meadowseep is in a subtropical climate; warm water lined with towering cypress and tupelo trees. The water deepens on a gradual slope, laden with aquatic plants that choke the surface near the shore. Many species of fish, some endemic, live in the various zones of the lake.
Ecosystem Cycles
The banks of the Meadowseep fluctuate with the seasons. Water rises after heavy rainfall and spring snowmelt, partially flooding the surrounding swamps.
