The Arinean Kingdom (/æ 'rɪn ɪ ,en/ [ah-REEN-ee-EHN])

Arine (originally called Arînet, pronounced [ah-ri-neht]) is a civilisation that collapsed in 43613 UTD, only eighty-seven years before the beginning of the Melioration Age. It was scientifically and technologically advanced, and a powerful kingdom, making early use of mycelium networks for travel and having influence throughout Ithan.

History

The ultimate cause of the Arinean Kingdom's collapse was a three-year long drought starting in 43609 UTD. The drought led to famine and population decline, and prevented the use of hydropower (the Arineans' main source of power). Territorial disputes along the Dretten and Shrantlish borders further contributed to the population decline. Without the resources and power sources needed to continue living in the underground of Arine, the surviving Arineans moved above ground -- where they had little need for powered light sources.

Territories

The Arinean Kingdom held a similar geographical territory to Askela. Its capital, Arine, is almost entirely underground, with the only two districts visible from above ground being Erthunar and Murfolin (perhaps not Murfolin, I'm undecided). The other settlements, all of which are partially or entirely above ground, are Lakt Eglens, Rūz Arbekslople, Zēbornar, and Vālēar.
