Traditionally, men wear pants and a shirt, and women wear a skirt or pants and a shirt. However, these expectations are becoming lax.

Askeen gender ideals are not highly stereotyped, however, they are still somewhat sexist. Nevertheless, all genders are expected to be able to provide for themselves.

A female should be caring and warm-hearted, intelligent, and hardworking. One should be able to cook, mend clothes and other household items, and perform basic first-aid. One should also have artistic skills, such as drawing or painting, playing an instrument, or singing.
A male should be steadfast, respectful and courteous, and have a keen mind. One should be able to cook (although usually to a more limited degree), maintain and repair tools, and make good business and sales decisions. One should also be athletic and adept at recreational sports such as rowing/kayaking/canoeing or swimming, climbing, or hunting.
