Eldanfan the Outcast

Ureldanf (warlord) Eldanfan (a.k.a. The Outcast Warlord)

Eldanfan the outcast has been riding horses and fighting battles in the Tri-River region for many years since he was exiled. You don't want to meet him o the battlefield because of his ferocity in battle and his dirty language. However, if you offer him enough money, he'll do almost anything for you. But mind you, he's a powerful mercenary who really doesn't come cheap. The exiles who travel with him are known as Eldanfan's Outcasts.   Eldanfan (in Auranaurukshuket: eldanf (lord) an (man)) was an Aurukshukan noble who was exiled for getting drunk and saying dirty words during a feast at the table of the Dalkndalk's table in 148 A.B. His most loyal followers (his servants, men at arms, and personal militia) decided to go with him to exile. They consisted of 2,258 horseman (1,556 were cataphracts, 537 were routers and the remaining ones were horse archers) 367 camelry men (137 camel cataphracts and the rest were camel archers), 569 footmen, and their families along with a few extra horses and camels. The Dalkndalk didn't recall his verdict after all these people made their declaration of leaving with Eldanfan. Instead, he gave them a chance to apply to return after 3 years of exile and he gave Eldanfan a chance to apply to return after 5 years. After they left, they became mercenaries for hire and they became very rich fighting for the kings of the Tri-River city states and when they were given their chance to try to come back, most of them decided to stay because they liked their new lives. Eventually, they were permanently hired the Bashurian king Do-Yu Ashawa (Yu-Mai Ashawa's father) in 153 A.B to help him gain territory that was lost to the Guntartars about a century and half prior (Conquering land from the Guntartars was hard because they would let you get in deeply into their territory, cut your supplies and communications, and starve you out. This was especially easy to do to you if your land based army was mostly made up of heavy infantry that can't keep up with the Guntartar horses. The idea was that they would assist the Bashurian army by protecting it from they Guntartar horsemen trying to cut it off.). They received high pay at the end of the month, but they were warned they would be brutally punished for desertion. Their families were housed in Bashur under close survailance by Bashurian soldiers ready to kill them if necessary. Eldanfan's own son was always with the king who could kill him with the royal scepter if need be. Though, in reality, the mercenaries weren't planning on any desertion because of the high incentive and because they liked serving the Bashurians. Eldanfan and his men loyally served the Bashurians until they were defeated in the battle of Humbari in 173 A.B where they all either died or got captured. Eldanfan was captured and died a year later of a staphylococcus infection.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

A very fit, tall, handsome and muscular man with some visible scars.

Body Features

Pretty pale skin.

Facial Features

Thin eyebrows, long mustache and impressively mane-like sideburns. His face has a fairly round shape and he has a hooked nose.

Physical quirks

Strongly right-handed. As he got older he did certain things ambidextrously.

Apparel & Accessories

He had lots of bracelets made of the hairs of vanquished enemies. He also had necklace made of pretty glass marbles which he made when he was 13.   A cape with ornate patterns and a bird-like silver brooch with a massive pearl.

Specialized Equipment

He had some the best plate armor one could hope to get (it looked like mid-15th century Gothic armor from the real world (Google it. It looks epic!)). His armor was made from quenched and tempered high-end high carbon crucible steel (104 hard) and was tailored to his measurements (a luxury he and his men could each afford. Regular soldiers in the East Hu-Balai had only partial plate because an army of a few tens of thousands of soldiers that is running on a state budget couldn't afford to tailor full suits of plate armor for every single soldier. The armor was made in few rough sizes and each soldier took it to be adjusted.). Advanced suits of armor like his remained uncommon for a few centuries after his death, being a luxury only rich kings could afford and a guarded technological secret.   He also had a sword which he captured in one of his battles from a defeated high ranking commander. It's made of quenched and spring tempered high-end high carbon crucible steel (121 hard) and has beautiful engravings on the blade which are inlaid with gold and copper. The ornate guard is etched with gold and copper and so is the threaded pommel (for ending people rightly#Skallagrim). There is a piece of polished lapis lazuli in each one of the quilons and the grip is wrapped with dyed sharkskin.   He has a special anti-armor dagger with a super-hardened point for thrusting into the gaps of armor.

Personal history

Capture

Eldanfan led his cataphracts on a frontal charge in a rhomboid formation towards the Berini right-wing infantry to cut it in half so that the Bashurian and outcast infantry could deal with it while the cavalry and chariots would engage the right wing cavalry while the camels and elephants would charge the left side of the cutoff and attempt to push it away and give the infantry time to do their job. His horse stepped in a pothole, tripped and threw him off accidentally. He landed on the ground where he fell unconcious from the fall immediately after. When the Berini infantry charged forward to kill/capture the cataphracts, he was recognized by a soldier who immediatly brought him to Arquado Barbarossa. Arquado, who had learned that Eldanfan had an extreme passion for glass marbles and carried a necklace of them that he made as a youth, started to remove Eldanfan's armor. As he removed the fold, he saw it in a special pocket in Eldanfan's arming doublet. Arquado took the marble necklace, threw it on the floor and ordered an officer to smash it with a hammer. Eldanfan, the man who had an unbreakable spirit in battle, let out a broken shriek that unleashed all his accumilated pain, sorrow and misery. The prisoner, with the broken spirit, bawled and weept. He would remain broken until the day he died.

Sexuality

Doesn't really care. Preferably hot women.

Education

Combat training, education in the art of war, linguistics

Nobleman, mercenary army commander.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Built up a reputation of being one of the finest mercenary commanders in the East Hu-Balai. Was one of the alltime marble champions and successfully convinced Do-Yu Ashawa to make marbles an official sport in Bashur complete with state run championships which he regularly won because he was so good at it.

Failures & Embarrassments

He was exiled from his homeland and he had a miserable defeat in the battle of Humbari where his entire army was defeated and carved up (the Berini loved their new horses and camels).

Mental Trauma

Banishment, losing everything after the battle of Humbari.

Intellectual Characteristics

Tactical and experienced in the art of war, a certified expert in marbles and marble gameplay.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Money, women, glory and his outcasts.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Has a natural feel for the way of the battle and and is very capable with reading the situation. He still is no match for someone like Arquado Barbarossa. However, he is the unbeatable legend when it comes to playing with marbles. He is a champion duelist and an amazing cavalryman.

Likes & Dislikes

Marbles, money, sex, winning and showing off to his peers occasionaly.

Virtues & Personality perks

Clever and proactive commander with a natural feel for the battlefield and his natural surroundings. Understands his outcasts and treats them very well. He regularly practices his skills in marbles, fighting and horse riding and encourages his people to practice frequently. He drills them through procedures regularly and knows their capabilities very well.

Vices & Personality flaws

Uses lots of swearwords and crude language (some people never learn). Lots of ego and thick-skulled with anything that doesn't have anything to do with war, marbles or money. He is a jerk and he is way too obsessed with marbles.

Personality Quirks

Fidgets with a bracelet made of marbles when he's nervous.

Hygiene

Organized and pretty clean, but not that clean.

Social

Contacts & Relations

He knows and has worked with many monarchs and soldiers in the Tri-River region and has lots of people who owe him money or favors.

He comes from an Aurukshukan noble family.

Religious Views

Not religious and shoves it everybody's face. He believes that all the religions and their gods are lies (he is quite right about the religions and their various gods in his world being lies).

Social Aptitude

Charismatic person with a huge ego. He is quite the opposite of the usually very well-mannered Aurukshukana who watch their language. He is rude and crude and badly mannered. It's not that doesn't have manners, it's that he doesn't really believe in them.

Mannerisms

Crude language and gestures. Because there aren't that many crude crude words in Auranarukshuket, he fills the gaps with words from other languages. Plays and fidgets with marbles. A lot.

Hobbies & Pets

Miniature wargaming and playing with marbles. He is absolutely fascinated with marbles and horses. He once tried to make a game that combined the two that didn't turn out very well.   His favorite horse he named Eldanfnur, which means lord of war (he also gives this title to himself).

Speech

Loads of insults and swearing. You don't want to hear him speak.

Yu-Lao Ashawa. She is Yu-Mai Ashawa's sister and Yu-Mai Ashawa married her to him despite him being about twice her age so that she could control him more easily.
