Demographics

Most of the population is Bashurian, but there are some minorities in the city as well that arrived over the millennia. Some south Hu-Balaiins which wound up forming smaller clans, Berini soldiers that that stayed, merchants from all around the Hu-Balai,etc.. The city's population is mostly made up of farmers, merchants, artisans as well as the upper class and aristocracy of the kingdom.   The clans are in fact large groups or families of affiliated people. Certain clans have more control of the upper class, some of the nobility, certain trades and crafts or even growing certain crops. Some are just loose affiliations which grant some groups some financial aid or protection from bulling or competition while others are like downright street gangs or mafias wheras some are just name or communities. For example, in the 3rd century the large Ashawa clan held most of the upper class's power because it was most of the upper class and the royal dynasty but the Khazai clan held a lot military power since a number of generals were Khazais.

The lower city which is the northern part of the city by sea is surrounded by massive walls with square towers. The citadel has the most fortified walls after the palace and has many round towers. The royal palace is located next to the citadel and above it and has the most fortified walls of all. The palace also has a fortified corridor leading to harbor.
