Everybody gets sucked off!

by Aronel Deadeye

We were ushered in to see Queen Cressida Kroft right away. We told her, along with several of her advisors, that we had found a few survivors below the cathedral. We had also found the missing Grey Maiden leader, Yniesse, who felt there were better ways to do things. She planned to lead her followers out of the city. We also revealed what we had learned about diabolism in the family Ornelos. They had been trafficking with a Devil named Lorthact. We also revealed we had learned from the Head Master of the magic academy that it's founder was still alive and secretly controlling the academy through him, as his descendant. We went on to tell her about the statue of Runelord Sorshen we had found in the catacombs below the cathedral, and it's magical ability to transport people with the proper spoken phrase. She suggested we could do some research either here in the castle archives or at the Longacre building. We decided to do some research here, before moving on to the Longacre Building. We were able to figure out the phrase - "Consume me, Runelord Sorshen". However, it was in Thassilonian, which none of us spoke... We headed to the Longacre Building to see if we could find someone who speaks Thassilonian. We looked for Bika, the Gnome we had befriended. It turned out she spoke passable Thassilonian & was able to teach us the phrase. However, we were not confident we would be able to speak it accurately. We discussed how to proceed, eventually asking Queen Kroft to set some safeguards at the cathedral & catacombs. We then asked Bika to come along to assist us. Arriving at the statue of Sorshen safely, we spoke the words individually & were whisked away one at a time.
On the other end we each joined a fight with 4 Strigoi as we appeared. Luckily our stalwart Barbarian, Ogrim, was able to hold the breach until the rest of us could join him! We defeated them without too much issue, but found afterward that the way back was destroyed. We also found the 6 missing priests here, alive. Huzzah! However, they had been chained to the wall and had obviously been fed upon by the Strigoi. There was also 10 sarcophagi lining the walls. We searched them, finding nothing, then set about destroying them. We then healed up before we headed further in to try to find a way out! There was a tunnel leading deeper & a set of closed double doors. We chose to search through the double doors. In this room was several interesting things. The most terrible was the giant glassworks with blood swirling inside. This took a backseat to the large imposing Strigoi here, who immediately attacked. He cast a Blade Barrier, separating the group. Those who could moved in on him, others attacked from range. He then cast a spell mostly past the group, hitting Bika and the Priests we thought we had left safely behind. This almost killed the non-combatants. Luckily Grett was able to get back and heal them while the rest of the group dropped the Strigoi. However, he fell into smoke/shadow & fled through some doors to the North. Those on that side of the barrier gave chase, leading into a space with 2 Sarcophagi. They saw the smoky shadow they were chasing just disappearing into one of them.
Also in the room was some odd creature seemingly made of a piece of wall with a rune on it. It attacked! Hearing another fight starting, Grett and Deadeye quickly ran through the barrier to join their companions. In the meantime, another Strigoi appeared and joined the fight. We dealt with the Strigoi quickly, but the rune creature turned out to be a very large PITA. Eventually we dropped it, but not before it nearly killed Erios! We then turned to see about the misty Vampires in their Sarcophagi.
