Assessment Log: "Stardust"

by Jesse Bell

I was in the alleyways of Concorde looking for that night club, and I stumbled across a gang of thugs ready for a fight. That was the moment I met Stardust, the vigilante who protects Concorde by night. She looked like someone who worked in a strip club, not that I've ever been in one, of course not! It was only my brothers who described the experience to me, but I digress. At that moment, I didn't care. She was there to save my skin from the thugs, and we fought in tandem to take them down together. It was a scary experience, but I was even more scared of letting down my family and the Artificer Guild, so I fought with everything I had. It was the first fight I've gotten into since acquiring my prostheses, so it was a successful field test.

From what I observed of Stardust, she acrobatically uses a spear as a weapon. Aside from hydromancy and light magic (which she used to take down one of the thugs), she also can create golden chains to trip her opponents. Her Pyrausta companion Ember did as I expected; she bit the bad guys and breathed fire to create space between us when things were getting too intense. Those moments bought me openings to regain my footing and keep fighting, and we managed to win. I suppose that's what fighting along an experienced vigilante is like. Come to think of it, she knew my combat mannerisms surprisingly well for first impressions; I only ever heard of her in the newspapers, and I've only been in the headlines twice, so there wasn't much information for her to work with. The only other way for her to have learned about me would be through the Artificer Guild, but her magical abilities don't suggest the two are affiliated. Perhaps she saw potential in me and was looking for a sidekick for her vigilante work?

The mystery lives on: "Stardust" is only a codename, so what is her true identity? I have so many theories, but someone like her surely wouldn't be anyone I know.
