Personal Log: The Rock Star

by Jesse Bell

Perhaps my first true friend in the University of Zauberschule would have to be Crystal Syllar, performer of that esoteric genre, Devil's Bane music. I've read from the daily papers before that she was kidnapped at least a couple times. Strangely enough, I found her passed out in the common room of the dormitory, so I stuck around to make sure nothing happened to her for the time being. Crystal woke up, and we talked for a moment. She's really casual in how she conducts herself, and even if we just met, she wasn't afraid to show me her scars. There's common ground between us, since we've both survived what should have killed us.

After completing my midterms, I was free of obligations for the weekend, so I went to a café which Crystal asked me to wait at by then. It was only thanks to the map I purchased that I was able to navigate the city, otherwise I would have gotten lost, not to mention being late to meet her. She then met up with me, then took me to a night club that was deep in the alleyways. I was on guard at first, but a lot of the people we encountered were just minding their own business, so it wasn't really that bad. I learned that Crystal's actually a popular performer in that night club, she has a way of uniting everyone in their own uniqueness. I rolled up my sleeves to show off my prostheses since Crystal suggested I embrace breaking social conventions; in addition to that, I look really plain otherwise. The women in the club had incredibly alluring clothing, but even if several were asking about my arms, it was not like they were actually into me! It felt awkward having little common ground with them, but I was more at ease when Crystal returned from the stage to the booth I was sitting at. After all, we know each other more than I knew those women. I wasn't in my element, but as they say; nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Crystal's favorite drink, the Violet Storm, was sour like a candy. It was an interesting flavor, even if I seldom ever drink alcohol. Although I was tipsy at worst, she was really intoxicated by the end of our hangout at the night club. It was up to me to keep her steady on the way back to campus, and once we were met by the stairs, I gave her a piggyback ride on the way up. It's a good thing she's quite small compared to me, although I've lifted heavier loads before. The day after, I purchased a concoction called "Alchemist's Kindness" for Crystal and gave it to her, it must have done the trick as she was willing to demonstrate her combat style to me. Her guitar turns out to be a transforming weapon that folds into a deadly scythe that could bisect the training dummies! I hope that gets magically mended back together soon. Perhaps in the future, I could spruce it up with some neat modifications.
