The next day we continued investigating the Dreaming Palace. We went upstairs to continue where we left off. The last area was a small tower in one corner. As we approached we heard someone inside speaking softly. We chose to get ready for battle, but to announce ourselves as city guards. When noone responded, we swung the door open & were immediately set upon by Ralso, the missing Half-Orc woman & 2 dolls(?!). After a brief, but vicious fight we brought her & the dolls down. After the fight Jensen was able to identify the dolls as Soulbound Dolls. We searched about & found a locked door, opened by a key we found on Ralso. Inside was a ladder leading up. We also found a journal. Jensen noticed a page sticking out of it. Flipping to that page the journal read "I’ve told them I’m out of the game, but still the Copper Hand comes calling. Using the Radiant Parade as a cover for a bank job is clever, but no way am I getting involved with that lot again." The piece of paper was a message: "R, Got a job if you're interested. Big money in plain sight, strike while the streets are soaked with tourists. We need a jimmy. You in?" We spent a few minutes recuperating before heading up the ladder. Reaching the top we found an Attic Whisperer, as identified by Jensen. It immediately ran forward to attack, moaning about being left alone here. As we fought it the creature continued to sob in different voices about it's fate and being left alone. The crow head on it's bony body kept calling each of us Ralso as it looked from one of us to the next. After a brief fight we managed to defeat the creature.
Having seemingly cleared the upper levels, we then turned our attention to the lower levels. Descending the stairs from Hendrid Pratchett's room we found a lab of some sort at the bottom. As we entered the room we noticed several of the creatures in jars looking at us. Dragging themselves from the jars they attacked! After a brief fight Jensen was able to identify them as Pickled Punks. We healed up a bit & entered the next room. As we did, we encountered a scene of horror where 4 flayed skins on the walls detached themselves and flew towards us. With horror we recognized the empty skins as the remains of the adventurers we had met a few days previously in the Tipsy Tango bar. As they flew through the air at us, Kasper was able to identify them as Shredskins. These turned out to be dangerous creatures, trying to enshroud people and control their bodies. We managed to defeat them quickly. While we took some time to rest and treat some wounds, Jensen noticed one of the other skins hanging on the wall had some intricate tattoos. Jensen took some time to draw the tattoo in a book so he could show it to the Tien folk. Perhaps this was one of the missing people. Continuing to explore we soon found the pit with the Ooze creature in it. We left it there and opened a nearby door. Inside was a forge. Inside we found evidence of the fates of the Menagerie owners. We continued exploring and soon found a room with 3 undead creatures in it. They leapt up from some cells along one wall and attacked. This battle was somewhat more involved, with the creatures draining us when they hit. After the battle the group was able to identify these creatures as Wights. Ready to retreat and recuperate, the guards felt they had cleared out the place. Searching this final room they found Hendrid Pratchett's spellbook, as well as some scrolls. We also found another spellbook, with the name of one of the missing people written on it in common. We had rescued him earlier from a torture chamber on the upper level. We also found some writings on necromantic workings.
Taking some time to read Ralso's journal, we found she had basically written her life history.
