We tried to sleep, but at some point more of those shades clones of Eliodiel showed up. They did nothing this time, just disappeared. We think they are spying on her and our group. We managed to fall back asleep, Eliodial choosing to stay awake the rest of the night. I sent Khuno out with her to keep her company.
In the morning, we were awakened to someone making a lot of noise outside the old Inn. The strange girl from Targos jumped through the side window, while Nina simply opened the door. They were followed by Freya Sigrun. They are attempting to enter the keep, but were only promised entry if they took care of the dwarves here in this inn, which we already handled. I warned them that they were cultist and it was dangerous to get involved. Nina took that warning to heart. I'd hate to see her injured, or worse dead. She was invloved in some messed up stuff back in Targos, but she listened when Verrick and Evelyn spoke with her and she's trying to do better.
We eventually started to make our way back to the Caer. Eliodiel volunteered to turn into a mouse and sneak in to get the lay of the place. Once she came back we were able to find Cailley to set up a distraction so we can get in through the opposite side. There was some miscommunication within the group and we ended up going through the front door instead. We took out some cultist before the distraction went off and we were all able to enter into what seems to be the dining area. After investigating, I heard some crying from under a table and went to find the source. I found a young girl, a servant name Mere. She is from Bryn Shandor, promised a good life from Kadroth, but of course this was not the case. I promised her we would bring her home with us. She can stay with me until we can find her a place. Perhaps Martin and his mother would be willing to train her.
We slowly made our way through the castle, taking out the cultists who crossed our paths. We eventually came to a room where there was an old Soothsayer, and the current leader of the cultists. She told us that the Dueregar we cleared out of the old Inn are part of that large fortress and they are working on some kind of doomsday weapon. Shortly after, she died. We continued until we finally found the speaker, after taking out the guard in his room. He advised that his staff was being held in the basement, if they had not already been killed. So that was our next stop. We ran into Freya once more. Taking a boat, I dropped her at what looks to be some kind of library, I am not too sure, I never entered the room. From there we found the rest of the staff, but had no room in our boat. I dropped the others back where we left Freya and returned for the staff, ferrying them to safety. Eventually picking up the group as well. We also found the boy Cailley was looking for, turning him over to her. She gave Rhodri some information about his parents, who apparently at some point traveled with my half brother.
We headed out in the morning to Lonelywood upon Verricks wishes. He wishes to speak with an Iriskee Harrowhill. If I am being honest, he doesn't seem to concerned about running out of time for his trial. But perhaps he is just good at hiding his emotions.
As usual our first stop there was the Speakers house, Nimsy Huddle. If I am being honest. outside of Byrn Shandor, I love visiting with her. She is always delightful and makes the best cookies, which she generously shared with us. They were so fresh, literally just out of the oven. It was also a new recipe for her.
She spoke of a great White Moose that has been terrorizing the town, killing loggers and villagers, but usually only when they are on their own. This town has had its share of bad luck.
We spoke with the Tavernkeeper Bahx, who was able to give us more information about this moose. We decided to try and search out the moose. It was tedious. We came across the skeletel remains of an elf, which turned into a banshee. Nearly killing all of us. Evelyn was the only one able to resist. She was able to get Verrick up, who in turn got myself and the Rhodri up.
We continued on, eventually coming to a sarcophagus, Rhodri mentioning it was rich in necrotic energies.
Looking around, we found the statue of an Elven warrior. Could it be? Is this were Valindra Shadowmantle has been laid to rest?
We found the moose, and after some tough hits, we did manage to kill it. We gathered all we could, the carcass and antlers, and will take it back to town with us.
