The day after the tea party, my new group left for East Haven. We arrived late, but I still stopped by the town hall to inquire about meeting with both the captain of the guard and the town speaker. The Speaker's Assistant informed me they were quite busy the next day, but if I could help with one of three tasks, she would be able to make room for me. We took all three tasks, just to do our part and see if we can help. Plus, it doesn't hurt to have them on our side.
- Sythen, owes taxes, but his Ferry is frozen, found at the White Trout
-Ranaldo, needs to complete a new busker form, can be found at the White Lady Inn
-Misken, package delivered, found out the White Trout
We had no problem delivering the package to Misken, who then kindly tipped me silver, although I felt weird taking it. She also was able to point out Sythen. We spoke with him and even went down to take a look at his ferry. Unfortunately, even if we managed to free it from the ice, all the other ports are frozen, so it wouldn't do much good. We weren't able to complete this one. We decided to stay at the White Lady Inn, as it is the nicer of the two establishments. There we found Ranaldo, spinning tales to the patrons as we entered. I was easily able to pull him aside and had him fill out a new busker form. Apparently the first one got used as a napkin. How one confuses a paper form with a napkin, I have no clue.
Ranaldo invited me to a séance he was performing that evening to draw out this Lady in White. I decided to attend just for fun and to see what it was all about. Surprisingly everyone in my group was interested in attending as well. It was a fun time, I will not lie. I am not sure how real it was, I've always been a little hesitant with believing in that. But I also can't just cast it aside either with all the strange things I have encountered in my work. Three of us were able to ask questions of her, to which I asked if Levistus was present here, and they said yes.
The next morning, I reported back to the Speaker's assistance, Prudence. I advised we were unable to collect the taxes, but did present to her Ranaldo's busker form as well as confirm the package was delivered to Misken. At 1200 I met with the Captain of the guard, Imdrah Arlggath. I filled her in on what has happened in Bryn Shandor and she confirmed a similar murder about 6 weeks ago. I presented the letter from Speaker Shane, requesting shared information. Captain Arlggath promised to have a copy of their file sent to Voran, here in town, as well as a copy ready for me to pick up when we leave to bring back to Speaker Shane. I also promised to speak with Speaker Shane about possible trade, or assistance with better food for them. I can't promise anything, but if Bryn Shandor can help, then it is our duty to do so.
I then met with Speaker Nametra. I let them know why were in town, respecting their authority here. They mentioned they had four fishermen go missing, and asked if we would be willing to head out and see if we can locate them. Whether dead or alive, they just need to know so they can put their families at ease. I agreed on behalf of the group. Truthfully, had they said no, I would have went on my own. They then mentioned something strange. They pulled out purple statue from the waters, and it made them uneasy. I asked to take a look, see if we could figure out what it was. They agreed, although we had to wait until after hours as there was work being done in the basement where they were keeping the statue.
We set out in search of the fishermen, when about an hour into our journey, we saw two men, who looked exactly alike. One was holding a weapon to the other, clearly frightened. We tried to diffuse the situation, but the when the one with the weapon looked our way, they other tried to attack. Thanks to our groups quick thinking, we managed to stop this, although they fell into the icy waters. They then just seemed to swim away, towards deeper water. We decided to take this man back to shore as his boat was no longer sailable.
As it was getting dark, well, darker I guess I should say, its always dark now. We decided to pause our search and start fresh in the morning. We stopped back at the town hall and Prudence led us downstairs. Upon seeing the statue, I immediately recognized it as chardalyn. No wonder the speaker felt uneasy around this. I believe it was Eliodiel who eventually pointed out a figure attached to this. It seemed to be the spirit of the Lady in White. With the way she was attached, it seemed like perhaps her death was drowning, being tied to this ship figure head. I thought perhaps if I could severe a rope, it might free her spirit, but then she started attacking. At first they attacked her back, but knowing the evil of this Chardalyn, I started to attack that, eventually the rest of the group catching on. We finally destroyed it, but not before Eliodiel and Verrick were effected in some way. Poor Prudence was back against the wall terrified. I'll have to find a way to explain why we destroyed the figure head. Its evil, and it needs destroyed. No good can come from it.
We all went back to the inn for the night, exhausted. Rhodri and Verrick sharing a room and then Evelyn, Eliodiel, and myself sharing a room. However, at some point Rhodri came pounding on our door. When I opened it I saw him and Verrick. Apparently Verrick just left the room and almost walked right into the water to drown. When Rhodri tried to stop him, he tried to attack him, so Rhodri had to hit him with, I think he said a firebolt? I pulled Verrick in and set him to back to sleep in my bed, Rhodri left to go back to his room he had shared with Verrick, and I took up guard against the door, sleeping sitting up the rest of the night. I can't afford to have anyone just walk off and get themselves killed.
