Dear diary,
We discussed what to do next, seeing as we had several options open to us, and even more necessary things to do. We would need to reactivate the portal in the Lorewood, so we could travel back and forth at our leisure. But first we should head to Titania’s tower and reclaim the Nimmerhold for Dynia. Seeing as we hadn’t been here for a long time, I decided to cast commune with nature, to see what was near.
It revealed no nearby settlements or portals, but to my surprise, it did indicate the presence of a powerful creature stalking the woods nearby. Seeing as it was on our way to the tower, we decided to track it down. Best to see what we had to deal with before it caught us by surprise, or decided to attack Tarn in our absence.
Not too far out into the woods, we found tracks. Wolf tracks, but bipedal. Gael tracked it further but after about ten minutes, even our dedicated hunter lost the tracks. It had noticed it was being hunted and had started hiding its tracks. With nothing to be done about it, we decided to just head on to the tower.
It didn’t take long however before Liliana whispered to me that she felt we were being hunted in return. So the roles had been reversed. She suggested we just pretend we hadn’t noticed in the hope of drawing it out. The trick worked and not longer after we were attacked by the Animal Lord, a powerful creature.
It summoned a tree-ent, which I stunned with my mind. It would leave me vulnerable, but as the plan was to dissuade our assailant from fighting, it was a risk worth taking. Alistan quickly managed to convince the creature that we meant no harm, and that we were here to restore Immerglade to its former glory. Caelum Greenherder, for that was its name, said he was the protector of the forest, ever since the power of Immerglade was at its height.
He turned his eyes on Liliana, sniffing her and scowling that she bore the marks of a link with Ulther. We quickly explained that the link had been to Vivienne, who was no longer on Ulther’s side. He seemed sceptical but said he would confirm our story with his companion Yarnspinner, seeing as the fabled spider had already met us. We gave a quick explanation of where we were going, and where Tarn was located, so that he could find us again.
After he had departed, we pressed on through the woods towards Titania’s tower. For once I took the lead, finding my way through the strangeness of the feywild. We didn’t have too much time to lose, and that could happen quickly out here. The evening was already falling when we finally stepped out from the treeline and into the ruins of Whisperwind.
