The idea of talking is just...unappealing. The expectations that people have of... saying something to you and expecting that you'll respond. This is the choice that I've made. I like the idea of only communicating when I want to; it means that the metaphorical "ball" is always in my court. It's funny though. I say when I want to but I never *really* want to, or at least wanted to until I spent more time with Effy. Her demeanor and her protection meant a lot to me. I wanted her to hear how much I appreciated that, how much I *treasured* that. The surprising thing was that she did hear me. "But I didn't say that aloud", I thought to myself. Again I reached out, "Hello?" and I won't forget that smile that she gave me during our first conversation. Apparently my gifts were more than just magical. A beginning given to what I didn't know I wanted or perhaps needed. A way to talk with the people who meant something to me.
