Dovarax’s death has forced me to reflect on my actions in a new light. With everything we are working towards, I might end up in the ground, and there is a strong chance my legacy will die with me. With that being said, this journal will soon hold all of my findings, and hopefully, through this clumsy collection of knowledge and experience, my story won’t be lost in the sands of time.
It seems only fitting that this new, regularly updated journal should begin with the Feywild. It is where my adventure began, and seeing as our travels have recently brought us here, it’s quite fresh on the mind.
The Feywild is the embodiment of chaos. There’s no other way to describe it. We appeared in the city streets and were almost separated by the endless streams of traffic. Which, might I add, is quite dangerous considering this is a place where people ride owlbears to work. Of course, I was familiar with owls and bears from the zoo and textbooks and such, but owlbears? That took some adjusting to. Only Queen Titania could make this wild hellscape her stomping ground.
The Financial District of the Feywild isn’t the greatest either. This is the place where the rich get richer and turn a blind eye to the people of the Outer City. People like Eos and I. The sole candidate for mayor, J Belfort, is no different than the rest of them. He puts on the facade of being all for the people, but I can tell the good ones from the bad ones. So could Beemic. The man was hiding something. Our half-orcish friend made it clear how he saw Mr Belfort, which resulted in his removal from the district through the tycoon’s hired thugs. But we weren’t wrong about him.
Belfort has clear and open intentions to demolish buildings in the Outer City. People’s homes and livelihoods destroyed for a quick buck. However, I am aware that sometimes, when your words fall on deaf ears, actions speak volumes. And so I will wait for an opening. I do not doubt that the party as a whole, with the exception of Bibble, harbour a mistrust to the soon-to-be mayor. And I will not be recounting Bibble’s disturbing attraction to the man.
Despite this, the true reason we have come to the Feywild isn’t to stop corrupt politicians, and it certainly isn’t just a holiday for us. The Sisters of the Swamp have made it abundantly clear what we must do. If we don’t find and eliminate Circe, a child will suffer and my best friend will be gone. And I can’t have that. I won’t.
But of course, the magnitude of the consequences failure brings clearly got to our heads, and the group’s behaviour at La Tour D’Ezanix was not pretty. Beemic, Kravol and I all went straight for the liquor. After all, the Feywild is filled with a large variety of different bars and taverns, so it’s important to make note of the best ones. Needless to say, the experience has taught me one thing: avoid the Fairy Fireball at all costs. I swear, that drink will one day be the death of me.
And as if the political corruption and drunken splendour wasn’t enough, yet another complication arose in what I believe will eventually culminate with a gang war. As soon as we noticed the shadow-like creatures enter the bar, I knew there would be trouble. And when the gunshots were heard, my suspicions were proven correct. So my two drinking buddies and I were first on the scene, and by the end we were left with a mass of frightened patrons and four dead bodies with gaping holes in them. Specifically, four members of the G-Mobb. And I must say, I did not appreciate the trip down memory lane that brought me.
Today was wilder than most days. The Feywild is always alive, and even now in our shared room, the streets are filled with party animals and hopeless drunks. It’s this excessive and never-ending cycle of drugs and sex that so many of these citizens indulge in that aided in building my resentment of the plane as a whole. It is truly the realm of chaos. But even so, it’s better than the other one.
That’ll be all for now. My eyelids grow heavier by the minute, and I would hate to relay a flawed retelling of our experiences simply due to exhaustion. I’ll see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully, a calmer day. But it’s obvious I won’t find that here.
