I'm half hoping that the stories of troubles that have led me to Kastor are overblown. If they are then I still have a little coin in my pocket to get a nights sleep under a roof, and maybe the stories will have spooked the local caravans into paying better coin for guards.
I hadn't even reached the city before things started exploding. A group of Goblins and Ogres were attacking a pair of humans and a burning set of armour. The armour, introduced himself as Takkamer, said that Kastor was about to explode and that he was tracking the people who were trying to do it. He asked if I wanted to help and I couldn't think of a reason not to..... I mean if the city is actually in peril then that is pretty serious. One last adventure then.
Takkamer tracked some cultists to a cave. They weren't really able to put up much of a fight. The ground started to shake and one of the wounded cultists started laughing and said "The Dragon awakes". Confident that there isn't actually a dragon in the cave I followed Takkamer who enthusiastically rushed in.
The cultists in the cave were really bad at fighting, so bad it was actually hard to predict what they were going to do. Frustratingly for both of us this led to my opponent staying alive for far longer than he should have.
Pergida seems really enthusiastic about some poetry reading or song or chant or whatever the cultists are doing deeper in the cave. We're pretty sure we should stop whatever it is so we pushed on.
Got into the main cavern and began to cause a ruccus. The cultists summoned an actual fucking dragon. I was having none of this so I charged into the ones in the slightly fancier robes hoping it would ruin their ceremony, the effects were not as world changing as I had hoped. Lacking a well thought out solution I decided to kill as many of the cultists as I possibly could. This worked, the lead cultist worked his foul magics on me and despite my best attacks he seemed determined to stay alive. Fortunately Takkamer made friends with the Dragon and he ate everyone.
Pergida looked unwell so I took her out of the cave, settled her on Maximo and headed off to Kastor for help. Takkamer went in to the town hall to check on his friends and I stayed outside to look after Pergida.
It looks like the people here have been through a lot, they could probably do with a helping hand to put things back together again. I think I will stay a little while, I mean a town doesn't end up imperiled more than once right?
