Journal 17: Interlude

by Sergeant (Ret) Will Bakersmith

Vlad was back the next day. When the pack met it was revealed that he was also questioned by the police. The same detective Graves that questioned Jericho had questioned him. What was more worrying was that he had known that Will and Jericho had added Vlad to the company list of owners before the pack had a chance to tell him. How did he come by that information? Will asked himself. There were several possibilities. The least worrying one was that Graves had simply acquired the records after Will and Jericho submitted it through legal means with his job. However, that would imply Graves and by extension the law was really digging into the pack affairs. Maybe they found something. Or maybe he was able to get the access because of Will’s connection to them. While he had not been formally tried or sentenced, he still was being watched. Since his skill set and the types of crimes he was accused revolved around business, it made sense that they would be tracking that.
The latter possibilities were more sinister. A spy? Stealing information? Illegal sources? Witchcraft? Will hoped it was not. Even now Will still would rather deal with what he knew than the unknown of the supernatural world.
After that the pack discussed their desires to continue to improve city life. Especially the economic possibilities for disadvantaged youths. While they couldn’t act on it immediately they decided they would complete a seasonal harvest rite at a local park in one week. They would turn it into a neighborhood event to improve the morale of the city. The pack worked all week.

Will talked to the Director of Verona Parks and Recreation events: Rosie H. Scivally. He also talked to the several city counselors, Carson Z. Kollins, and Alexandria Y. Pandya. While most of the city officials were willing to give Will the needed documentation, Will hit one snag: Josephine H. Berenz. An old flame who was now on the council. To put it nicely, things had not ended well between the two. With the old history and Will’s more recent discretions, it had taken all the charm and social ability he had within him to get her to agree, but in the end he got the permits for the pack.

Meanwhile the rest of the pack were able to fairly easily succeed with their tasks. This party was going to Rock!
Unbeknownst to Will, there was one more major wrench had been thrown in their plans……
