2nd-3rd of the Harvest Moons

by Conrad Brauer

[The gap between this entry and the last proper one are filled with rather simple, impersonal health logs, hours slept, and chores taken. Each one almost seem to be a carbon copy of one another except for days that are marked with less sleep or loss of appetite and have an increase in chores done. It's rather worrying about how impersonal these filler entries are from an outside view.]

It's the second of the Harvest Moons when Kas finally approached what is left of our group with word that we'll have a job. Honestly with only Cade, Kevin, Olo and I as the only ones left in this damned group I'm surprised we were even considered for a job, but it appears we are being paired up temporarily with a pair of A'mau brothers. We were to meet with them and the client at "On the Road" and hopefully get along with them. Yeah, sure, ok. I think I saw the A'mau we're going to travel with a day ago planting saplings around the Company, but for all I know we could be partnering up with different A'mau...

No, yeah, I was right. The A'mau we're partnering up with WERE the A'mau planting the trees. Toes Twinkle and Sparkle Tail were talkative people, rude and obsessed with Cacao as well. They really do admire the Traveler, or the Mushaya as they call him, a lot and if you take their stories with a grain of salt they are rather entertaining. Sadly these two really tend to derail anything by enabling the fuck out of each other, to the point where I felt the need to step in just to let our client speak.

Our client this time was a diviner named Vadoma. Divination is a hazy magic, but when a practitioner comes to you and claims to have seen you do something, you go do the thing. Clear visions like that cannot be ignored. According to Ms. Vadama's vision, our group needs to apparently fight a Darkness in the Wastes. The wastes.... fuck. I hope we're not going to blindly rush in and meet the Father. However she did also give us some lead as to who to speak to for more information. A wastes survivor in Nisiar. Oh boy.... Nisiar.

Although she had no clue as to when this should be done, Vadoma encouraged us to get this done as quickly as we could. So I advised everyone to stock up and get ready to head out tomorrow. God why did it have to be me telling them what to do. I'm not cut out for this. I'm just an alchemist. ANYWAYS, I finally hit up Urtho for that enchantment he could do, and paid him. It should be ready by tomorrow. Kevin bought a crossbow. And for some reason Urtho told me to look out for Cade. why me.

Before I could head back to the inn and properly turn in for the night, Toes and Tail stopped me on the Company stair way. Toes was covered in wine and offered me a wine bottle he claimed he made and that it took faive years to make-- "the finest cacao wine!" . If I were born yesterday and had not seen them come from the direction of Kasvaar's office and haven't swiped a similar looking bottle from there myself, I would have fallen for it. I called him out on that lie and took the wine as compensation(afterall he did offer it) and then headed on my way back to the inn. I don't remember much, but then again, that wine can knock me off my ass if I ain't careful. AND I JUST CHUGGED IT. HA HA NICE!

Third of the Harvest Moons, and I have realized that Toes and Tails might edge in that line of "might fit in, might not" in regards to our party. Either way, watching them blunder their way through any conversation is entertainment in itself , even if I get annoyed at it sometimes. I still have no idea what their rules for cacao stuff are because apparently sharing it can mean dating or becoming friends? They tend to switch what it means. Either way Toes claimed that since I turned the one bean given to me as friendship into cocoa powder and then gave him the powder we were dating???? Please, no we're not. To be safe though I immediately told him I wanted to break up. He took it well. The two made Cade an honorary A'mau, since after a month of no show from Dog, Cade made a lion-like iron defender named Cat.

After messing around for a bit, we headed off for Nisiar. I just wish we didn't have to move so slow because Cade had insisted he could travel with his new trident. A trident made for an adult human male, and not a young hobbit. Either way we at least set up for the night, I would take first watch and Olo said he'd take last, Toes and Tail tried to weasel themselves out of it after stealing Kevin's tent, but I wasn't gonna let them get away with that. I volunteered them for second and third watch.

My watch went smoothly, but it seems a snag hit us during Toes' watch. HAGS AND BANDITS SHOWN UP! Patrons it was a fucking nightmare. Toes came close to dying twice and Olo, Cade, Kevin, Tail and I took a beating. Once the hags were all dead, the lone bandit still alive tried to surrender, but Tail just killed him! Whatever, I need to get back to burying and sending these guys off. Maybe I can get this dumb locket appraised once in Nisiar and sell it off.
