Our first adventure!

by Anvar Ravensong

We went on a hunt with Wipa & Pakano. We found a very large Moose, almost the size of a small Mammoth! Wipa advised caution with this creature, but Pakano chose to ignore this advice and forge ahead straight at the creature! While the group set up a killing field, he was quickly downed by the creature. Luckily we were able to drop it quickly so that Tovah could use her divine powers to stop him from dying! We then carved up the Moose with Wipa's guidance. We headed back to camp with our prize.
The following morning the entire tribe was busy with preparations for the coming Green Moons Festival. This was the year that our group would become full-fledged members of the tribe! Grandfather Eiwa & Letsua approached us to speak to us about the upcoming ceremony. They explained that there was much to be done over the 3 days before the ceremony.

  • The ritual site at Rock Bloom must be secured and scouted. It is an ancient place of animal spirits, used for this ceremony since before the tribe existed.

  • Carry 3 fragile ceremonial vessels from the Gornock river. Simply fill the containers and return them. The baskets were pointed out to us.

  • Capture some nearby Tapirs. The Tapirs would act as a warning system to help the tribe protect the Mammoths.

  • We chose to go fill the ceremonial baskets first. We traveled for about an hour. Arriving at the river, most of us spotted a spear stuck in the far bank. Pakano immediately raced to grab it, claimed it, then challenged anyone who wanted it to a wrestling match. Gruk took his challenge, but was handily defeated by Pakano. Pakano laughingly held the Gruk's head under the water while asking if anyone else wanted to try. Anvar drew his bow, threatening to shoot Pakano if he did not release Gruk immediately. Pakano laughed it off, while he released Gruk. Noone else wanted to wrestle. Especially after seeing the well made spear, with a human hand hanging from it, seemingly part of the spear. We decided we should head upstream to investigate the source of the ash, however, Pakano grabbed 2 of the ceremonial containers himself and accused us of trying to get out of carrying the water. We decided to head back with him, as we recalled that we had been asked to do this task together, including Pakano. Once back at camp we delivered the water to Wipa, noting the ash we had seen on the surface. We told her that we were going to have a look upstream. She said we should go look upstream to see if there was a big fire. We headed out.
Following the river upstream we found an islet in the middle of the stream. As we approached, a watery shape rose from the water and asked for our help. She told us she felt weak and polluted, telling us that we could purify the river with a mystical flower growing near a large stump close by. She told us that we just needed to pick it and throw it in the water. Anvar thought this seemed odd, as why did she not just do this herself? She claimed she could not leave the river. As she spoke, several of the group noticed a bird-like creature trying to hide on the islet. Nic thought it seemed like some sort of Fey creature. As we discussed the sighting of this creature it walked out onto the water and preened before us, distracting all of us somewhat, then it retreated back across the water. While we tried to decide how to react to this, maybe(?), hostile action the water creature advanced and breathed a cone of acid onto the group! The group made quick work of the water creature. We then moved after the bird-like creature, dropping it before too long.
We looked around, seeing that the ash cover was from further upstream. Nic was able to identify that the flower was a Mud Lily. The stump that the chicken-creature had come from held the corpse of a Kelid woman. She was burned, but upon closer examination it was apparent she had drowned. We rested for a few hours to recuperate, before heading upstream.
