Grandfather Eiwa came to speak with us, telling the story we had heard before, of the time before we were the Broken Tusk. He spoke of the tribe we had broken from, the Burning Mammoths. Our tribe chose to take the Primordial Flame and split from the Burning Mammoths. They called us cowards, while they went off to fight the Demons that were invading the land. They had not been heard from in many years. However, the 2 men we had to fight while gathering Tapirs and the spear we had found with the severed hand attached to it were clearly from the Burning Mammoths. Grandfather Eiwa said they had many more tribespeople than our tribe. He would leave immediately, but our tribe so looked forward to the Green Moon Ceremony. He said we would proceed with the ceremony, then all would leave immediately afterward. When asked if the Primordial Flame was still hidden he told us that unfortunately, it was not. Then told us he would tell us more tomorrow. He asked that we prepare to leave quickly after the ceremony the following day. He did wax nostalgic and also tell us that his mother had named our tribe after a mother Mammoth she had seen with a broken tusk. The mother still tended to and protected her young, even with her injuries.
The following morning, while preparing for the day, we heard the cries of a wounded Mammoth. While the tenders looked after the Mammoth, we suddenly heard more of the animals begin raising a ruckus. Looking around, we saw a porcupine bristling at us. This turned out to be a formidable creature, almost taking out Gruk before Zannok could finish it off! The rest of mostly watched, though Nic did get in at least one shot. Afterward, we found 2 baby Porcupines in a nearby nest. Nic recognized that they were young enough to be raised by the tribe and would join the following. We took them in. We then turned to see where we could help to make ready for a quick departure after the ceremony. We chose to clear the trail ahead. We found a nest of Bloodseekers. We quickly dispatched them. Returning to camp, we decided to help tidy up. We did so, finding an unclaimed, empty Runestone in the process. We then turned to gathering the herd. This turned out to be simple for our group. We then decided to dilute the spirits with water to help prevent grogginess and hallucinations.
That evening the tribe gathered for a shared meal of meat and spirits. The storytellers told stories about the Moon Tail, a constellation still seen in the sky. It was a tail of the seasons turning. The tribe then proceeded to the ceremonial grounds. At the end of the story, Grandfather Eiwa presented each of the group with a Broken Tusk pendant specific to their spirit animal. As Grandfather Eiwa sat back, Pakano stood up and demanded to know who would be named successor to Falcon House. He broke into a tearful tirade, saying "You will all be sorry"! Just then torches lit up in the darkness around the gathering, lighting up beastial painted faces! The battle was joined. Fighting on all fronts, the tribe managed to push back the advance raiders, before gathering up the survivors and fleeing before the main Burning Mammoth force. During the battle Wipa gave birth to triplets in a remarkably short time!
